Back To Nas…
AUDIO By Gotty™ on May 19, 2008 at 8:10 pmWords By Contraâ„¢
Nasir Jones changed his album title in what is suspiciously beginning to look like just another sales gimmick.
I hate to say I told you so…well, no actually, I don’t hate to; I’m loving this quite a bit.
Most Nas heads are busy doing one of two things. Either they are rightfully calling Mr. Jones a punk for not being the giant he claimed he was, and not walking the path of hot coals he laid forth.
Or they are grasping onto ghostly fumes of whatever great vision may have once existed, that could still be.
I’m still singing the same song as before: Cut the bull, save face, drop the album, Mr. Jones.
I’m begging you, sir, please.

LMAO
*cues up Pun’s “That Nigga Shit”
I wonder how many kids parents would make them put that album back on the shelf with it titled Nigger as opposed to just NaS?
“fake thug, no love, you get the slug, CB4 Gusto, your luck low…”
Anyone got their hands on that Cool Kids album yet?… Roll Call my people! Roll Call!
I hear it’s a digital release only so it’ll probably be available @ 12:10…?
Nas doesn’t even the dignity of a TC response at this point.
he was live at the barbecue
he should go back to the grill again
favor?
go here:

then click on the track ‘IF I LUV U’ by my homie Tre-Dot in the player, and vote with a 10.
it only takes a few seconds.
thanks.
I’m a little disappointed, but I could honestly careless about what he names it as long as it is released soon.

Wow

Who gives a fuck what title he gives the album just put it out damn it!!! All this bitching and whining over album titles, hiphop is turning into some tabloid shit for fucking real man. I’m betting that this album will be great regardless, I’m willing to bet on it man, real talk.
I wonder if Puff would let Nas name his album Bitchassness!!!

*********************************************************
Or 3…
saying, ENOUGH! Just drop the damn album already…Thinking all the “industry” nonsense is killing the game right now… Drinking a Sapporo, knee deep in the Hornets/Spurs game.
sometimes it’s the simplest things that make you laugh…
Estelle’s Teef Says:

Like I said last Nas post, I really would prefer Nas (or ANY artist for that matter) take their time in the lab w/ their album and get the sh*t tight/right, BUT if each week is going to bring about ANOTHER *BIG sigh* “major event”, scandal, or interview discussing the project, I’d rather just get it over w/ so the release doesn’t turn into some 50 Cent/Kanye melodrama.
I say name it “MASTER”…
or better yet “YES MASTER”…
@ c. bloom – lol, damn, i’m slow. i just caught that. duh.
for his antics, yeah, that’s what he deserves.
^ lol
for all y’all starving for some good R&B, y’all need to stop looking to these young bucks, cuz they ain’t doin’ shit…
if you haven’t got that new Lalah Hathaway yet…damn, this some good shit. grown. can’t see how folks is sleeping on this…such a shame. smoove.
I’mma give that new Calvin Richardson a spin later and see what’s good w/ that.
@ oed – how’s that Sapporo? still babysitting the same can? lol
here’s a drink that only nerdy-ass Bay Area cats would know about: Sake Bomb
you take a shot glass full of sake (Japanese rice wine) and drop that into a glass half full of Sapporo, and take it to the head (or, as White boys would say, Slam it Down! lol)
^ kinda like an Irish Car Bomb…if you haven’t tried that…some more White boy steez, but you haven’t lived ’til you’ve tried it at least once…
I don’t fuck w/ Jaeger Bombs though…that’s the ultimate frat boy drink…lol
Estelle’s… heads ain’t ready for Lalah… They can’t handle Ledisi… Snoozed on Chrisette, too. Jill Scott’s last one bricked, too.
These women need to go butt naked crying on Tyra and Oprah… then they might sell. JS’s Hate On Me had the craziest horns since Amerie’s Just 1 Thing.
^ “Hate On Me” had this sinister-ass swagger to it…as far as “1 Thing”…dope song too…Rich Harrison is that dude
Lalah’s bad, tho… Cop Jazzhole’s Poets Walk, too. Based on the stuff u write here, i think you’d dig it. I’ll up it soon as i get some fresh burning software–it’s all mp4s right now..

got DAMN
@ canseco – good lookin’ out – if I’m not mistaken, mp4’s will work on my Mac, i think…
i found that Ledisi somehwere, lemme see if I can find it…i’ll bring it back if I see it
Spurs look like they gonna pull it out… sucks…
as for Nas, getting tired of his ishk… album better be tight as hell or he’s pu$$y…
Usher = payday
that might be my intro to how petey & big fonz supplement their income
lol
dunno what Rich is doing lately… Amerie was good until rihanna and ciara showed up. them two heffas just stole all her swag and ditched her in a trash bin somewhere.
He should have called it N as in NaS or Nigger or Nigga or The End of Days whatever
Rich & Amerie were a good time and had a good run while it lasted….Amerie’s 1st album “All I Have” is a classic…
another good team was Groove Theory..Bryce’s production & Amel’s vocals made a dope but hardly mentioned debut…too bad that was a one-off
^ my bad: time = team
*swiiiiiiped-ded-ded*

Ledisi – “Lost And Found” (2007)
http://www.zshare.net/download/35289065e66147/
Amerie is NOT what’s up. She never really was in the first place.
Rich Harrison had a few good tracks…but he’s not close to being one of the best.
I don’t care what the hell Nas chooses as a title. Just release it…..
I swear, I’d write the crappiest record reviews…nothing articulate, eloquent, or elaborate, just a few words…
this Calvin Richardson is pretty good
Amerie was Rich’s muse
here’s the tracklisting for the Jazzhole album
1.Poet’s Walk (Sax Instrumental)
2.All the Way
3.Jonesin’
4.Lowdown
5.One More Time
6.It Could Have Been Enough

9.Timeless
10.All the Way – (remix)
^ thanks
@ Estelle’s Grill: Supa-cosign on Amerie man, I just finished skimming through her MySpace and UK-based website; GOTDAAAAAAAMN!!! Shorty’s legs look mean in some stiletto pumps!!! Says on Wikipedia that she’s signing to Island Def Jam.
Calvin Richardson’s cool. My connection’s slow; but links is coming.
Yo. Always diggin’ on the blog. I reference it from time to tim as I’m sure you have noticed.
I wanted to share something special with you as well and hope that if you think it’s worthy, you would what you would do for any worthy content.

sake bombs are world wide, not just limited to nerdy-ass bay area cats.
a few of those at dinner always start the night off right.

i ain’t sed nothing about Nas…
he should call this album “Consignment” ‘cuz he ain’t gon’ make his money back. Not only does no one care about this joint anymore but…
Dude’s last 4 albums have bricked. badly.
greatest hits: tanked.
Hiphop Is Dead died.
Ill Will presents… nothing.
God’s Son sold a little but not much…
Dude ain’t hit Platinum since Stillmatic.
Plus he hates touring.
The -igga hype was his last gasp. I think somebody at IDJ been focus grouping and reading blogs and they’re seeing that the headache of certtain stores not carrying the album isn’t gonna be offset by rabid fans… People just don’t care.
The igga hype wore off in January. now he just another backpacker-type lyricist on a major label that can’t move units.
Nasir is gonna brick. Hard.
@ g4s – i didn’t know sake bombs appealed to people outside of the Bay…i always thought of it as a regional thing, like Go-Go & DC…good stuff though
Usher’s new album is really good
Lost Tapes 2 would make up for this debacle
Lost Tapes was dope but it didn’t sell. the who igga fiasco was about how do you market a cat who’s a better lyricist than he is a marketable celebrity.
Lost Tapes 2-5 would go tin and wood, too.
Dude’s terrible live so he doesn’t build that road buzz city to city like other cats that aren’t as good but bring a live energy to a show.
Nobody’s ever left a Nas show and thought “wow he has so much energy i can’t wait to see him again.”
CH CHING
What was he supposed to do?
If the TIs didn’t want that title then there was no way he’d get away with it. He should just leave it untitled and those who are interested will know what it is.
check this one out… Nas shoula gone this route.
forgot the link…

this Jazzhole is reeaally good…thanks again oed & canseco
no prob bruh. As Gotti and the folks demo every other day–there’s dope music out there and labels and radio ain’t bringing it enough. we gotta let each other no what’s out there.
I vouch for all 3 of Amerie’s albums… & her legs.
Same for Amel with & w/o Groove Theory…don’t know about her legs though.
As for Nas…it definately wasn’t a stunt for sales cuz that wasn’t happening. Like I was telling TC, I’m lightweight worried because everything he’s done since Stillmatic has been good or great. He’s due for another Nastradamus…
Hopefully it won’t be this one.
@M.Z.
I thought i was alone in thinking everything post-stillmatic was pretty fucking good.
As for “another Nastradamus”, i really think it wasn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be….but maybe that’s just cuz i’m a Nas stan
*shrugs shoulders*
*cues up “Big Girl”*
you got that Teef… Just got put on by Canseco m’self
and that Usher is pretty damn aiight….
and Amerie’s legs ARE glorious indeed…. pass the jelly

=========
First of all your name is Hella fresh, me being a A’s fan from the Bash Brother days.
Second, thank you for mentioning this because me thinks its time to do a post on how if you ain’t light, bright & damn near white….and a size 4 you get LITTLE burn in the R&B/soul arena.
That “Nigger” joint is dope!! Vintage Nasir!!
hehe Would “Negro” be acceptable? I know it doesn’t have the same bite as “Nigger”, but it’s damn sure better than Nas. Self titled albums are usually reserved for new artists and Cats who are just too damn lazy to come up with somethin’ better.
BTW-After that “The Slave & The Master” joint, I feel a lil bit more optimistic about this album.
This is the same cat who “went to hell for snuffin’ Jesus” when he was 12 (a ballsy as fcuk line @ the time) on Live @ The BBQ, so it’s interesting to see him caught up in this aforementioned “wrestling esque” nonsense of basically his own doing all these years later.
Not saying anything one way or the other…. jus’sayin.
Deen, good looks on that.
-Nas fan
“This N*gger album is more important than my first album.” so do confidence to Nastyliness Nas !
it’s in fact a good idea, because all the people know the real name of the project. the controverse is stopped. the disc has a promo and now public support. and left at the good date.
then if nas come with big lyrics, big themes and a real masterliness : an untitled disc is better to mark his time. hiphop time. all the time.
finally, there will be maybe a new cover which could be timeless more, according to the desire of nas which had say that this album is very worked, like its first. that he wanted a classic. (us also) and also simply the word/name NaS, everyone know of what it will be question. failing this disc will be eponyme, but the album will have “Nasirliness” !
chekit : N.I.G.G.E.R. (TheSlave&TheMaster) it’s hot

Wassup, does any one have the Tracey Lee “The Theme” VLS? would really appreciate it.
@ K1NG:
I don’t think it’s that bad either, but it’s his worst album.
its’ nas street poetry that makes him ill… if can go back to saying shit that don’t make sense but sounds mad deep this album will be heavy… im partially joking when i say that
The Nigger Bitched up.. and imma still buy it.
The content of the album remains and is shown in the songs that have leaked from the album. So just because he changed the title (or had it changed for him) after MONTHS of wanting it to stick, it doesnt take away the theme of the album and what he hopes to achieve through the songs.
