A befitting title as Episode IV was the unofficial beginning as well. Just when it seemed like there was no chance of a Saigon release, our prayers have finally been answered…sort of. Atlantic Records have decided to release the Fort Knox yardfather from his contract after their irreconcible differences had both parties conducting business treadmill style — going nowhere.
In his Myspace blog, Saigon The Don breaks it down like it was a friendly game of baseball:
Strike 1
On one side of the token they’re telling me they need to market me to the youth yet they want me to use adult content.. This didn’t make sense to me. They wanted me to tell 12 and 13 year old kids that its cool to be strippers and gangbangers. I felt if they were going to market me to the young kids in the urban communities, I should be giving them something thats gonna be more beneficial than detrimental to their lives, like the importance of education, safe sex, will power and shit like that.
Strike 2
I like to tell myself that the money they were supposed to spend on my project just went to T.I’s legal team and court fees…Then I feel they did something good with the money..Haha
Strike 3
He [Just Blaze] gets the big homie Jay-Z on the remix of “Come On Baby” (see page to listen) and can you believe these muthafuckas stiiiiiiiiiiiilll didnt work the record or give us what we needed to work the record…
Wow. If his side of the story is indeed factual, this is a prime example on why Hip-Hop needs to take back the industry so that everybody’s best interests are in mind. There’s no excuse for Atlantic to stand behind Gotty’s favorite rapper and let someone like Sai fall to the wayside. Sorry Juelz, he’s what the game’s been missing. Someone who’s actually focusing on making good music as a marketing tool opposed to any other gimmick we’ve been exposed to this decade. Matthew Mundy told me he believes The Greatest Story Never Told will earn a 5 Cig rating from us. While that’s yet to be determined, one that’s for sure…
He’s off to one helluva start.
Saigon – Believe It (Feat. Red 5ive) b/w C’mon Baby Remix (Feat. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz)

Saigon is better than Your favorite rapper…

This is turning into a modern day J-Live record.
Atlantic is about paper. End story.
Not creativity, artistic integrity, none of that.
Paper.
Really tho’ – I’m tired of dude whining. Detox is gonna drop before Sai’s shit lol.
how much does it cost to sell your sh*t out your trunk these days?…
^ what it would cost, them fools blew it on a chain lol.
I just hope either him or Just Blaze own those masters….
@ Doug… sai owns 100% the masters.

Pffffffft…..
TC only buys 3.5 and 4-packs…. occasionally….
every leap year….. during alternate full moons…
when the Great Pyramid opens up….
Glad to hear Sai owns his masters, tho…
Fam got Just Blaze backing him, a Jay-Z co-sign, a decent buzz on the skreets, and he STILL can’t get off the shelf…. yet (every wack rapper and his mama…..TC gave em 1 1/2 cigs for the EP btw) puts an album out every Tues and Thurs by breakfast. What a ninja gotta do?
yard fatha

Random-ass comments question: What sample did 9th Wonder use to produce “Let It Go”?

skyzoo – the necessary evils
I feel Saigon for his integrity, but he’s easily one of the most overrated rappers out.
Sai better learn from Prodigy: GO THE INDEPENDENT ROUTE!!! Saigon will NEVER move big units on a major, not because he sucks as an artist but for the fact that the type of music he makes isn’t financially viable for a major label. Like Gotty said, Atlantic is about paper my ninja. Dudes better put those chains and vehicles on eBay and use that cake as start-up capital for their OWN labels, or else they had better KOCH it out.
TC, I know what you’re sayin’, mayne
BBE !!! (english leader)
KOCH !! (deutsh/european leader)
Babyground & Nature Sounds (best inde us)
Columbia (like Nas) maybe is good for Saigon first album. But i don’t understand why Blaze don’t make a deal with Def Jam ?. for just 2 albums maybe, cuz for a coming it’s really important!!! then inde records are perfect for an good creativity.
I can see Lil Boosie!!!! saying to himself right now;
“K.O.C.H . I.T .O.U.T do you know what that means!!!”
LOL
But Flea is right if you want total artistic control you have to go the idenpendent route
@ Bigga: LOL!!! That sounds like a summer club-banger!!! Ha Ha!!
Saigon has charisma & a certain amount of star-power. he def doesn’t NEED to go independent — whether he does or not end up that route, he doesn’t HAVE to.
he COULD make hits & be well a very well known type name-brand-rapper. I think he’s been semi-closed-minded about his records, just cuz he doesn’t want to be seen as candy or as promoting violence there’s still further hit routes:
*super-banger party anthem that isn’t candy/fake
*catchy melodic EMOTIONALLY RAW deep song like “Crossroads” or “Dear Mama” etc
he’s tried for both so far but — Come On Baby doesn’t quite make me wild out or wanna scream on em like a true anthem should — & Pain In My Life wasn’t catchy or melodic at all let alone enough to steal the world’s heart.
but he should just keep trying, & maybe expand his Producer list.
@ Flea: I already see Souljah Boy creating a dance and T-Pain on the single. If they cant afford him get Shawn Kingston!! LOL
@ Dao…
Man that’s good to know. I’d hate to see him get the shaft on that end.
Saigon needs to sign to Def Jux push his album overseas and get paid in Euros.
Saigon has been my favorite rapper since 2005, I even let him know i would body someone if that would help the album come out, but no luck. Sai keep pushin dog, YOUR fans will always be YOUR fans.
