You knew it was only a matter of time before Elliott Wilson, aka YN, came back on the scene because, as my OG told me, “you can’t stop a stepper.” As the self-proclaimed “former heavyweight champ of hip-hop journalism,” I’ve always admired the unabashed arrogance of the cat along with the fact that, hate it or love it, his proclamations are often based on some semblance of truth.
Currently, he’s helping to helpin’ to parlay ego trip’s Miss Rap Supreme reality series. Seeing as how 1.) The “(White) Rapper Show” had a tremendous following and 2.) VH1 is the only Black/urban/hip-hop channel (yeah, I said it) doing anything substantial right now, all in all it should be a decent show. I mean shit, they got Khia (read her blog entries to see why this chick is pure fuckin comedy & full of quotables), a Russian lady, a German chick who raps in pronounced English, a midget, an amped up version of Da Brat, a mysterious bird with swooped & gelled bangs to cover her injured eye…just peep the trailer to understand.
Each Monday, YN is partnering with a blog/site to create Hard Body Female Spit, a break down of some of the finer female contributions to the game. This week, he’s with Robbie @ Unkut.com and they’ve cooked up a decent set of tracks. In fact, I bow down for them bring out the pic of Hurricane G & her homegirl Soni, and for even remembering Choice.
In the coming weeks, I think I’m gonna try my hand @ this as well because Lord knows somebody needs to mention Gangsta Boo on one of these lists. But for now…

Even though the show has hinted to some Girl on Girl action; which is always NICE( unless one of the girls is Rosie O’Donnell). But the people at Ego Trip has done more to destroy hip hop that C. Delores Tucker has ever attempted. I do predict no matter who “wins”, Khia WILL get her own show. Dat gal is NUTS!!!!!(I guess it’s true what they say, you ARE what you EAT!!) LOL!!!!!

I don’t think ego trip has done anything that wasn’t already being bastardized & flipped twice by every other form of media & advertising currently. Their twist isn’t that bad IMO. It’s not for “hardcore hip-hop heads.” It’s for entertainment, casual fans, etc and it’s grounded in shining light on some of the overlooked/often not explained aspects of hip-hop, from the roots til now.
If Khia would record her blogs, she would sell more records. LOL!!!
You are right ego trip isn’t doing anything that hasn’t been done before; but don’t promote the show as a savior to the female MC. You just want a bunch of chicks to act like asses for the veiwers entertainment.

That is true but with the White Rapper Show and their newest creation, they have become Indian givers. Just because the crew @ ego trip are good folks doesn’t mean that can’t be held accountable for putting garbage out.
