Lil Boosie has received quite a bit of good press in the past few weeks. While I don’t think anyone’s calling the man a fashion icon (he’s prolly a shoe-in for Mr. Black’s list), one thing about it – he’s turned the music world upside down on it’s ear…well, at least the ears of some of the industry’s biggest minds.

This Da Beginning mixtape has some true bangers on it & Boosie fell back to his roots, both lyrically (more focused & furious rhyming in his signature nasal tone) and on the production-tip (gotta love the fuzzy, cheap sound that makes it feel like a true underground emcee recording in a dark closet-sized studio in someone’s basement).

His voice is definitely an acquired taste and definitely one of his strongest selling points. Personally, it took me a long while to fully “like” his music (we all know I favor Webbie), but once I was able to embrace his whiny sound, I was hooked.
