NEW YORK (Reuters) – A 15-minute film of Marilyn Monroe engaging in an oral sex act with an unidentified man will be kept from public view by a New York businessman who has bought it for $1.5 million, the broker of the deal said on Monday.
Memorabilia collector Keya Morgan said he recently arranged the sale of the silent, black-and-white film from the son of a dead FBI informant who possessed it to a wealthy Manhattan businessman who wants to protect Monroe’s privacy.
“The gentleman who bought it said out of respect for Marilyn he’s not going to make a joke of it and put it on the Internet and try to exploit her,” said memorabilia collector Keya Morgan. “That’s not his intention and I would never get my name involved if that were to happen.”
Monroe is clothed and the man’s head remains out of the frame for the entire 15 minutes of the film, said Morgan, who viewed the film.
Monroe was rumored to have had an affair with former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and Morgan said former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, a Kennedy rival, went to great lengths to try to prove it was Kennedy in the film.
One of Monroe’s ex-husbands, the late baseball great Joe DiMaggio, once tried to buy it from the collector for $25,000 but “he would not part with it,” according to declassified FBI files provided by Morgan.
Morgan is a well-known collector who owns memorabilia from the estates of Monroe and DiMaggio and said he was friends with Monroe’s other two husbands, Jim Dougherty and Arthur Miller.
He said he learned of the existence of the film while working on a documentary about Monroe, who died in August 1962 at age 36. A former FBI agent told him about it, and Morgan said he confirmed it by tracking down the son of the FBI informant, who had provided a copy to the FBI.
The late informant’s son had the original while the copy remains classified in the FBI files, said Morgan, whose deal was first reported by the New York Post on Monday.
“The FBI agent that I interviewed said J. Edgar Hoover was completely obsessed. A team of nine individuals were analyzing the tape inside a lab. J. Edgar Hoover brought in a few prostitutes who allegedly had been with President Kennedy and they tried to … see if that was really President Kennedy.”
FBI spokesmen in New York and Washington did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

like a The Real vid ! lol,
song only on itunes and it’s better for the new disc!
Roots’ not mainstream like dat.
This joint is corny. Smells like a failed attempt at garnering some crossover/mainstream love. I usually only eff with a few joints from each Roots album & this won’t be one of em.
Love the video; hate the song. But judging by the other joints that has hit the net so far the album should be very good. This song just shows that even Jordan in his prime shot a brick. LOL

I can’t say the song is bad, but I can’t say I’m mad they took it off the album either. Seems more like Fallout Boy featuring the Roots than the other way around. The Sasha Grey ish was hilarious though..

Boo to Ronnie. ?Love himself was just griping about it so I think the 2nd round is only a response to that…and now this video.
I like the vid. The song didn’t floor me though & from the description of the album, prolly should’ve been left off.
I’ll trust their judgment.
Anybody seen them as they’re going around opening for Badu or has that started yet?
Debating if it’s worth paying $65 to see them as an opening act instead of headlining.

i don’t really find the song any further “out there” than any of the other experimental shit The Roots have put out in recent years…it’s not my personal cup of tea (no British) but it ain’t horrible, either…i like that these cats are taking chances and not just making boring, safe prepackaged hip-hop bullshit…if that means every once in a while they slip and make some borderline corny shit, then so be it

I need that HNIC2 & that Rich Boy “Bigger Than The Mayor”. Haven’t really been feeling an entire Roots album since “Illadelph…” (IMO their most “Hip Hop sounding” LP), even though I just recently listened to “Things Fall Apart” again & it’s better than I thought when I 1st heard it.. This new joint sounds promising (especially the list of high profile features), but so have the last couple albums. I’ll give it a listen when it drops though.

i’m feeling very antagonistic today…getting my don rickles on. only for a minute though then i go back to the woodshed.
from what i read in billboard, quest didn’t think the song fit the vibe of the album, which is true (i have heard and reviewed the album). but i do understand the need to record such a song…to paraphrase something he said on okp, “mofos think ‘shook ones’ can be a single in today’s marketplace.” it puts the roots in a tough spot…someplace they’ve been for much of their career.
after 15 years and about 10 albums deep, they’re still tinkering with the formula, which is a shame, really. you make shit your core fans are going to dig, and you risk not selling any records…even more so when those “fans” are downloading everything and not buying shit. you try to get on with a single…a “you got me” or a “break you off,” and the fans bitch because it’s not the shit they want to hear from “their” band. those cats have to eat, though, and personally, i’ve been trusting the roots for a minute, so i’m content to let them do what they feel they have to do to create and survive in this business.
because once they’re gone, what the fuck are we gonna do then?
and people are complaining about “birthday girl,” but when the album drops, are you going to support the band and go out and buy the motherfucker, thus negating the very need to drop some schmaltz like that? or, are you going to keep checking tss for that leaky faucet pic every day for weeks leading up to the release. that’s why “birthday girl” is necessary, because somebody has to buy the record if we ain’t.
but yeah, the song definitely doesn’t fit on the album. “75 bars” eats birthday girl’s children.
RE: the show, i’m going to peep them here on the 31st of may. it should be dope…all involved kill it in concert, so i’d say it’s worth it. take the lady. you’ll have fun.
I feel what You’re saying, but Birthday Girl is miles away from Break You Off or You Got Me. This joint caters to a whole ‘nother demo and comes off more calculated than artistic. I’m all for the artist showing artistic growth, but this jont seems ready made for top 40 radio. Tariq almost seems like an afterthought on the track. This is the closest thing to a “sell out single” that I’ve heard from The Roots.

Song is horrible. I don’t know what they thinking with that one but it ain’t US. Don’t forget it was US checking for Illadelph in the 90-era, don’t forget it was US going to your shows before you linked up with rock groups and had a Myspace, don’t forget it was US talking Black Thought up as one of the greatest…
