Triple 6 in their younger years…
Well, this is an unexpected turn of events.
There are two songs named “Lollipop” blowing up right now. Neither versions will win any spots in the annals of great lyrical showcases, but dammit they’re catchy as hell.
For my money, Triple 6′s version is more of a go-wild club hit than Wayne’s. The group’s energy is off the charts as usual, and it’s matched with a vocoder-laced hook. While Wayne’s version gets a little stagnant towards the middle with the constant “Lollipop” repetition, Three Six refuses to let the listener relax for a moment as the beat changes at about every sixteen bars and it’s easy to tell they’re experimenting/expanding their repertoire. Every verse has some sort of vocally-affected adlib to add depth to the rapper’s delivery, making each one stand out in a different way.
Even when they’re making a fun hit like “Lolli Lolli,” The Mafia can’t resist making the beat at least slightly haunting, given that Three Six sound we’re so familiar with.
And Juicy J quotes Barack Obama.
Priceless.
Them boys done did it again…be prepared to hear this everywhere.

I know this moves the chicks a little but I still prefer the old Triple 6.
More power to’em though. they earned the right to do whatever the fuck they want.
I hate the fact that I like this.
I betcha Won’t Hit A Muthaphucka
bet I will
I like the moderately old Three 6. Like circa 2000-2002.
Not too underground.
Not too Hollywood.
Just right,
Some weed music from my boy Chuck http://www.sendspace.com/file/mkslix
MAFIA!!! Yeah mayne, Triple 6 is back with another summer banger!!! The last album I copped from them was “The Unbreakables”, that shit was craaazy!!! “Got my gun in the club like FUCK THAT SHIT!!!/Bust that thang at security nigga FUCK YOU BITCH!!!” Ignorant but fun music throughout!!!
36′s < Wayne’s
just off the hooks alone, Static straight KILLED ‘Lollipop,’ and for all the hooks ol Thelonious Pain has doled out over the last few years, this one fell a little flat. I dig both though, which is a cool turn of events, usually the ‘club’ track sucks. Three Six did a sick job with the production and beat change-ups, though.
Can’t get this joint to DL. It’s not even playing. Hopefully (hint, hint) I’ll catch it when it gets tossed in the loosies.
Yo, anyone else thing that those two Banks tracks are better than what he’s been doing lately? I’d be supportive of a Lloyd Banks resurrection, I used to love dude’s shit on the earlier G-Unit tapes.
@ Be Lund
I don’t think Rotten Apple is that bad…
I fux with Three 6. Never heard much of their stuff prior to The Unbreakables joint, though the few joints I did hear (Especially Tear The Club Up, We Run It & Hynotized Mindz/Cash Money) were dope. Yeah, They’ve kinda gone Hollywood but I thought Most Known Unknowns was crazy from front to back & with the amount of time they’ve had to work on Last 2 Walk, I’m expecting more of the same.
Sidenote-WTF happened to Gangsta Boo? Diamond & Princess basically stole Her swag. She wasn’t all that in the face, but She was damn sure better than 95% of the female rappers coming out the South. You’d think She be able to get paper somewhere.
The Big Withdrawl > Rotten Apple
This “junt” get the club movin, but for me it’s one of those songs that make me go back to bar and get another drink.
That has to be the theme music from the Halloween movies.
@ TC – true, but it wasn’t really as exciting as Hunger for More. The climate was a lot crazier for those dudes back when every album they put out would go platinum, and I think it shows in the product.
Also, I read what you had to say about The Cool this morning and went back to listen to it… I’m still not sold on it, but you def. gave me a better lens to listen to it with. So, thanks, lol.
Hunger For More went Plat off the strength of the hype. There were bangers on there but truthfully, Rotten Apple is better put together & a more complete album. Aside from the singles, there’s really nothing special about Hunger For More.
If some of the songs on The Big Withdrawl had mde it to Rotten Apple, Cats would be looking at Banks a whole nother way. Still, it’s good to see Banks has His swag back. If that G-Unit album is gonna be any good, “Blue Hefner” has to be back in “50 Cent Is The Future” form.
damn them boys wont give that halloween loop go.
Gotty. We need a “Stray Shots’ devoted strictly to Triple Six. These dudes have compiled a hell of a lot of material over the years.

I can’t believe we’re having discussions about either of these songs. Both are PURE garbage. I feel like I’m in the matrix. Unplug me PLEASE!!!
Three Six is going backwards not moving forward and expanding. Doing a T-Pain song is not moving forward and expanding.
What made Three Six so dope was that DJ Paul had a great ear for music. The way he would effortlessly layer keyboard with samples was sick. They would dig for beats, chop samples and always had an old school flare about them.
Three quick examples.
“Who gives a fuck where You from” from the NFL Street game soundtracks flips the scene change music from the original Transformers cartoon. They made it sound grimey as hell.
“Get the Fuck Out my Face” – They flipped an old slave work song or some kind of negro spiritual “Bring Sally Up, Bring Sally down, Old Ms Lucy’s dead and gone…” then some hard sounding gospel piano comes in. It was on the Headbussaz album with Fiend
On “Wona Get Some, I Got Some” from the Choices Soundtrack they flipped Afrika Bambaata’s “Looking for the Perfect Beat” way better than Khaled did. When the add the pianos on the hook it just sets it off.
Three Six would flip all genres of music including chopping old school hip hop songs that you didnt care that they used same 808s song after song album after album. Every beat digger has Willie Hutch in the crates especially “The Mack” soundtrack but nobody killed Willie Hutch like Three Six
