For the life of me, I don’t understand why rappers record potential single material and never put it out. By now you would think label execs could guesstimate the life span of a single like the fans can, but when you got dentists working at the candy shop…

Contrary to the popular customs, I actually listen to everything on my iPod (It wouldn’t be on there otherwise). So I’m perusing through Paul Wall’s last album, which wasn’t very good at all, but had this one cut that defined him as regional artist without sounding like some local jargon from the neighborhood hero.

“Bangin’ Screw”

America definitely had more than enough of their share of the Screw phenomenon once the mainstream caught on (I recall samples of Beethoven being “screwed up”…I shit you not) but this track blends the elements of the occult that appealed to the ryders and features “The People’s Champ” kicking some nifty double-timed lyrics that fairly impress.

Obviously, there’s no way to accurately say if this song would’ve taken off like it could have, but I’m quite sure it would’ve double in popularity from that “Grillz” hand-me-down, “I’m Throwed,” which was only a hit at the class of 2007′s Senior Prom. Do yourself a favor and add this song to your springtime driving mix like it’s brand new, because to most folks, it probably is.
