Preach it. There’s plenty of ways to keep it traditional while simulatenously moving. Look @ some of the best albums from last year: American Gangster, Finding Forever, The Cool, Ear Drum, GetBack….beats n’ rhymes that still sound fresh yet timeless. Some cats overdue it.

the problem with “takin’ it back” is (1) most of the cats who want to take it back were like 9 when “back” was still in. Secondly the folks that were putting it down back then aren’t dead and their music isn’t buried in a vault somewhere, yet we treat them like they are.
it’s like we want the classics without the classic artist and the end result is some 20 yr old acting like he’s the guard for what grown heads were doing when he was still inside and in Underoos.
