“Don’t Worry About Tomorrow…”
GENERAL By Gotty™ on April 25, 2008 at 2:52 pmSomebody was asking for this yesterday and it reminded me of the first time I really heard the song.
By a random occurrence, I happened to meet Jack while he was in the studio working.
On the surface, the only way to describe him is to say he’s bubbly, eccentric, energetic & “Hollywood” like a motherfucker lol. You see him with the mirrored sunglasses & blown-out hair. He speaks with complete confidence, so much to the point where you think he’s arrogant when you pair it with some of the other attributes he has.
But once you start listening to him talk about music, you realize he knows his craft. Jack is truly one of those people who’s in love with the art, immersed in all the various genres and bent on blending the lines that might separate them & willingly breaking those same lines if he has to.
As he rattled off names of those whose projects he was working on, including some with frequent collaborator Cee-Lo. Then he said, “Let me play you a few tracks that we’ve been working on” and let them ride, I was floored.
Laid the fuck out.
I can’t recall every single one, but I do remember one of them being “Right Now,” which wasn’t in rotation for too many. (The other tracks? I was sworn to secrecy lol). But this one was one of the more remarkable ones, especially heard @ full blast on a proper soundsystem. Full-on 70’s sound, Cee-Lo casually wailing over the bounce of the beat.
Jack Splash & Cee-Lo Green - Right Now
It appeared on the ATL soundtrack and also on a three track promo item that came with the Gnarls Barkley album. (If anybody has the other two tracks, holler @ me.)
End story.
Sorry for the ramble.
Trust though - add it to the playlist, let the windows down & ride. Or maybe cue it up @ your next BBQ and two-step. Either way, certified soul.

Your sense of understanding human beings is phenomenal.
I mean…the arrogant dude that knows his craft…the Hollywood dude..I KNEW exactly WHO you were talking about based on your description.
umm yeah…completely off subject but i just say the roots get busy video and was wondering why is it that p. crack is only nice when he’s with the roots??
yo! you think you can get your hands on Plantlife- The Return of Jack Splash
say=saw ooops
why is it that p. crack is only nice when he’s with the roots??

BULLSHIT. “One 4 Peedi Crakk” ain’t nice???? “Fall Back,” “Gotta Have It!!!???”
M - if you judge Jack initial impressions, he immediately seems like he’s on another plane, & dresses like it too.
But on everything I love, dude knows his shit - I mean, the history of just about any artist, group or band, instruments, equipment, etc. I mean he knows it.
I sat back & listened to him talk to a president of unnamed record label exec & just hearing them go back & forth…it was heavy. It went from just talking, to me shutting up & just taking makeshift notes on my phone.
They were like “none of this is going on your site is it?”
“Fuck naw. I’m taking notes for my motherfuckin self”.
Oh yeah…get the song. It’s good for all types of occasions. It’s pure Cee-Lo singin on some “shit, fuck the week. It’s the weekend!” vibe.
Peedi? He’s gotta have the right beats but he’s a beat. “Get My Money Bitch” still gets heavy play.
just heard this shit yesterday when you put it up…so dope…i’m liking all of what i’m hearing from Jack Splash/Plantlife…shit’s different
Word!! This is family, Jack’s good peoples. If ya’ll not familiar with him he produced “Teenage Love Affair” & “Wreckless Love” on the Alicia album.
^ Fam all day. glad to see you stop thru.
I wasn’t gonna put that extra A.Keys info so I’m glad you said it for me lol.
“Wreckless Love” = my joint.

Naw. Its pretty apparent when you like something and that came across in the piece.
I was like 4 sentences in and WANTED to hear dudes sh*t and you know ALL I listen to is Mingus & Mobb Deep.
***Fumbling around trying to write a Sean Bell piece…arg…I hate/love/hate social justice pieces sometimes..
“Fuck naw. I’m taking notes for my motherfuckin self”.
