Personally, I thought more folks knew about these cats because their first album was definitely a quiet surprise. Misnomers might be an understatement because I know the name threw me off first time I heard of them as well. I’m sure there’s some fantabulous story behind the name, which I could remember if I cared to. But, I don’t care. All I can remember is their first album, Moonlighting, was good music & I’m hoping for more of the same with this tape.
Anyways, tracklisting included. Haven’t gotten to it yet, but I definitely will.

once again, gotty, you’re like 6 for 6 when it comes to introducing me to new artists. . . . so imma check these boys out. . .
even though i’m tired of the whole retro/hipster theme that’s being regurgitated all throughout rap right now. . . .
^ thing is they were around before all of that.
I’d say run to wiki or google’em. Their album really was that good. I think them & The Strange Fruit Project both dropped around the same time & got critical acclaim. I could be confusing the two but I want to say one has affiliations w/Badu too, pre-Jay Elec.

^ there’s a link for Moonlighting in teh comments of that post.
I’m almost positive a couple of the cats went to NC Central with the gang from the Justus League… not 100% sure though.
I know the first time I heard Von Pea was on some old demo stuff from 9th Wonder & Phonte.
TM really gets busy.
It seems my post was ignored earlier!!! LOL!!! It’s all good though, RESPECT MY FRESH!!!
lol, no harm Flea. I been out on errands all day & just came in & updated w/o checking comments & shit. As long as folks got it, that’s good enough for me.
^ Nah… respect due. I copped that joint.
Props to 500k Flea
mad props on that drop…

IIRC, Von Pea still works with Justus League cats on a semi-regular basis. He was definitely on the “And Justus For All” mixtape and “Minstrel Show”, I think.
TM is sick!! Moonlighting was one up my favorites of ’06. Anything Von Pea is worth checking out.

i’m tired of the whole retro/hipster theme that’s being regurgitated all throughout rap right now. . . .

i sat down with these cats and interviewed them for waxpoetics magazine, the issue with j-dilla on the cover. real down to earth folks….they make music from the heart. “moonlighting” is a bit of an independent classic in my eyes. i wish them nothing but the best. peace.-ed
