Like the cure for cancer, or the lost city of Atlantis, David Blake’s recently leaked Death Row Sessions EP taunted me from the texts of a few greedy message board bootleg beholders for a good month.

So today, when I finally found a link, it was like I tripped over a bag of Benjamins.

Out of nowhere, there it was. Like that stiff, $50 ticket I contemplated uploading to some dude’s PayPal account a month ago never existed. I guess I’ll call it an IOU. With unreleased remixes and demos of my favorite songs ever, though, I would’ve happily closed out my account for these long lost treasures.

Circa ’95, this unreleased Quik compilation is like a fine wine, full of flavors. The mellowed-out, but equally unique ‘Death Row Remix’ to Toni Tony Tone’s classic, “Let’s Get Down”…get outta here. A twelve-year-old version of “Locc’d Out Hood,” live, with an impromptu G-twist to the beat…unheard of. “Boom,” a track unbeknownst to me until today, that’s funkier than the two-day-old socks on my feet…the best thing that’ll happen to me all week.

Somebody get me a CD-R and a Swisher. I’ve got some cruisin’ to do.
