“I met a gypsy and she hipped me to some life game
To stimulate then activate the left and right brain
Said baby boy you only funky as your last cut
You focus on the past your ass’ll be a has what
That’s one to live by or either that’s one to die to
I try to just throw it at you
Determine your own adventure, Andre…
Got to her station here’s my destination
She got off the bus, the conversation lingered in my head
For hours, took a shower, kinda sour
Cause my favorite group ain’t comin with it
But I’m witcha you cause you probably goin through it
Anyway, but…
Anyhow when in doubt went on out and bought it
‘Cause I thought it would be jammin
But examine all the flawsky-wawsky, awfully
It’s sad and it’s costly,
But that’s all she wrote
And I hope I never have to float in that boat
Up shit’s creek it’s weak is the last quote
That I want to hear when I’m goin down
When all’s said and done and we got a new joe in town
When the record player get to skippin’ and slowin’ down
All ya’ll can say is them niggas earned the crown
But until then…”
It’s not often I immediately run back a song just to repeat the lyrics.
But with perfectly pronounced rhyming syllables, a flow that’d leave tire tracks if it were a car and the intellectual lyricism that makes him hip-hop’s Andy Warhol, Andre’s contribution to this Aquemini classic is flat-out fun to mimic.
Funny thing is, despite the uptempo mood of the song, I think “amusing” is the last thing they’re meant to be.

first… geez there goes to show you the lyrical ability of dre 3000
Reminds me of His verse from Devin The Dude’s “What A Job…”. Dre is one of the illest lyricists, not just from the South, but in Hip-Hop as a whole.
1 of the top 5 albums of all time easy.

What’s some other quotable joints out there..that deserve proper mention….
Talib Kweli -Stay Around
Royce da 5’9 -Hip Hop
Goodie Mob “Cell Therapy” (Cee-lo’s verse)
“Me and my family moved into our apartment complex
A gate with a serial code was put up next
They say that this community is so drug-free
but it don’t look that way to me
cause, I can see them youngbloods hanging out at the sto’
24-7, drinking, looking for a hit of the blow…it’s powerful
Oh! you know what else they trying to do…make a curfew
especially for me, and you…
The traces of the New World Order
Our time is getting shorter, if we don’t get prepared
people it’s gonna be a slaughter
My mind won’t allow me to not be curious
my folks don’t understand so they don’t take it serious
but every now and then i wonder if that gate was put up
to keep crime out, or keep our ass in”
@ Terek
“Stay Around” was the very 1st Notable Quotable for TSS
@ The Gift

Boogie… what do you mean?
Lucy Pearl has two albums I do believe one with Dawn(EnVogue) “I wanna dance tonite” and one with Joi “You” ft Snoop and Q-tip
I could’ve sworn the album with Joi was released??
@ TC
that’s a trip…i didn’t even know that I’ve just been knocking that album for the past two weeks and he kills that joint
at least I know I’m on the right site, then
uhh, who said good folks is not supposed to die
the same nigga that said niggas is not supposed to cry
United States giving out milk and cheese to pacify
I’m sure they got a cure for AIDS, but yet it’s classified
u wonder why I spit the truth and not to make no dough
to make a difference fo this muthafucka up and blow
in pieces, I can think of many reasons
only when shit is going bad you want to holla Jesus
or pledge allegiance,
they got my knuckles bleeding from crawling ,
got these niggas thinkin they really ballin’, when they isn’t,
don’t take my word, there’s niggas off in prison
that will tell you, that’s locked up for long time and won’t sell you
no flex, so congregation will turn you text,
to the book of OutKast, chapter two, verse one
the first one, that feel me jump up and make a joyful noise
you’s OutKasted, meaning you now have a choice like that
okay i went back and researched a little… which reminds me why i didn’t really care IF there was a 2nd album because Dawn wasn’t on it! They replaced Dawn with Joi and I only saw one album released in their discography then other videos/pics with Joi in them… They did my girl so wrong then replaced her with some isht… Thanks Boogie for making me look it up! lol
@TC
Cool I’ll check back, thanks in advance!
“Too democratic,
Republic-fuck-it
We chicken nugget,
We dip in the sauce,
Like mop and bucket.”
“Humble Mumble” isn’t even the best Outkast, but Andre’s verse is so retarted. My favorite verse though, Andre’s second on “Aquemini.” I routinely rewind that shit.
got that lucy pearl… if no one posts a link, i will up it in 30 min or so…
Hip-hop/urban soul supergroup Lucy Pearl was formed in the summer of 1999 as the brainchild of Tony! Toni! Toné multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Raphael Saadiq (formerly known as Raphael Wiggins), who left the band he co-founded with his brother D’Wayne in 1998. Saadiq first contacted DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, which had disbanded after their 1998 LP The Love Movement, and then ex-En Vogue member Dawn Robinson, who had originally departed that group for a solo career in 1997 but jumped at the chance to work with Saadiq and Muhammad. Relying a great deal on live instrumentation in addition to samples and turntable work (Muhammad even plays bass and guitar), Lucy Pearl issued its self-titled debut album in the spring of 2000.
Thanx Raine4398!!
ATLiens>Aquemini
Both 5 micers though.
And Rosa Parks may be top ten rap songs ever
Can somebody upload Aquemini?
Twice upon a time there was a boy who died
and lived happily ever after but that’s another chapter
live from home of the brave with dirty dollars
& beauty parlors & baby bottles & bowling ball Impalas
& street scholars that’s majoring in culinary arts
You know how to work bread cheese & dough
from scratch but see the catch is you can get caught
Know what ya sellin’ what ya bought so cut that big talk
Let’s walk to the bridge now meet me halfway
now you may see some children dead off in the pathway
it’s them poor babies walkin’ slowly to the candy lady
It’s lookin’ bad need some hope
like the words maybe, if, or probably more than a hobby
when my turntables get wobbly they don’t fall
I’m sorry y’all I often drift I’m talkin’ gift
so when it comes you never look the horse inside it’s grill
of course you know I feel like the bearer of bad news
Don’t want to be it but it’s needed so what have you
Now question is every nigga with dreads for the cause?
Is every nigga with golds for the fall? Naw
So don’t get caught in appearance
it’s Outkast Aquemini another Black experience Okay
You should be a damn shamed of yourself Jaffe…

Return of the gangsta thanks ta’

but not enough to bounce them kids to the zoo
or to the park so they grow up in the dark never
seein’ light so they end up being like yo’ sorry ass
robbin’ niggas in broad ass daylight get down
@ Patrick M
I can’t agree with ATLiens>Aquemini
Personally I think ATLiens is a better overall Album than Aquemini but I agree the bul 3 stacks was in the zone on Aquemini
why compare?
ATLiens, Aqemeni, Southernplayalisticadillakmuzik > damn near every otha rap album
3000 > 98.5 of emcees in the game. if he ever does the solo rhymin album he”s been threatening to do , it’s a rap.
Aye blood. That “notable quote” shit is a fresh assed idea.
You know me w/my a.d.d ass always needs helps organizing thought strands.
Schweeeeet.
