Roots been slept on ever since Organix. I’ve seen ‘em 4 times over the years–NYC(1), CHI(2), ATL(1)…90% white crowds regardless of city or venue.
Thought gets no love. Consistency might be his biggest problem. He’ll never hit the highs of Jigga or Pac, but then he’ll never get down to Jeezy. He’s Mr. EvenFlow.
But dude is Top 10. He’s Rickey Henderson.–always gets on; goes for power when needed, etc. but he lets his squad drives him home. And if he didn’t hype himself up, nobody else would.

@ Black Canseco… i feel “lyrically” Thought has always been better than the likes of Jay or Pac.. what they bring to the table is the mass appeal that he/roots haven’t garnered… his material is a lot more dark, therefore, a lot of what he says goes over your head or people just don’t want to take the time to dissect it… but Thought is crazy ill…
You know what… dude could’ve made it big if he would’ve released Masterpiece Theatre, but like you said… he lets his team drive him home. He’s loyal to the crew, and that’s admirable.

Thought is and has been sick. Many points were brought up. I think potentially if Masterpiece Theatre would have came out when planned after they’re initial commercial success, he could have possibly blew up solo, is that what he wanted? I think Roots is a group that knows their position and plays it to the fullest. They really TOUR, hardcore. How many times have u seen the Roots. I’ve seen em 3x and I don’t really even go out to concerts like that. Roots tour, they prolly making more than some of these supposed “successful” rappers. Especially considering, nobody buying discs.
I feel like someone’s gotta ask – and it may as well be me – what the %*&$ are ?uest and Thought doing ritually burning a white dude?!
What kind of statement is that supposed to be? If some white band put out a video of a coupla them dousing a black guy in petrol…oh no right, I forgot, racism in the other direction is alright. Centuries of oppression etc. Doh.
