The version with DJ Drama is up on the Re-Up site and, even though I only got to listen to maybe four tracks in the car, I like it as much as the version from Sunday. Mixing in Dram’s boasts gives the tape an added bit of energy. Another bonus is the sound quality seems to be a step up on this version as well.
What I like even more is…
A.) Re-Up saw fit to cater to the innernuts first & making it available for download…instead of forcing the net’s denizens to scrounge, steal & share. It’s as if they know a major portion of their cult fanbase lives online & they hollered @ them first with music for “fiendin ass iPods.”
Sidenote – Is it me or did Ab-Liva & Sandman step their game up this time around?
Sidenote – This > Return Of The Body Snatchers. Attempting to harness the power of the web via ThisIs50, I’m glad Fif gave his shit away as well…but he really could’ve kept it. Yeah, they’re back to the original trio that made up the Unit & there are a few bangers on it. Overall though, it’s a yawn. Same tired singin’, little lyrical showmanship & 50′s weed carriers should be glad he’s so endeared to them. In head to head competition once again, Curtis again takes the L.
B.) Giving us two versions to choose from, basically from jump street. Feeling like you need a little yelling mixed in with your dopeboy lyrical fantasies? Pop in the Drama version. Prefer to just listen to the lyrics? Pop in the non-Dram version.
C.) Now, all we need is Benzi’s Refix to complete the trinity.

Even though the G-Unit joint pales in comparison (lyrically) to Vol. 3, I can’t front, it’s still entertaining. I’m not gonna be dazzled by any lyrical wizardry nor do I expect to, but there are some alright joints.
G, did that crazy azz wind finally chill out down that way? Damn.

new Diss track BURST YOUR BUBBLE up ….
Whats really buzzing cousin?
The question is:
Will we be seeing a Re-Up album in ’08?
The mixtape is dope but I think vol .1 was the best. This one kinda reminds me of vol. 2.
Will we be seeing a Re-Up album in ‘08?
———————————————————
I’d rather get that new Clipse. Even though Liva & Sandman stepped it up for this one, I’m still not overly excited for a Re-Up album. Pusha & Malice are the main draw of the group, not that their bandmates aren’t talented in their own right. They’re better than the average weed carriers but weed carriers nonetheless. Would a Re-Up album set them up for solo looks? Not likely.
^ what he said.
& yeah, we made it thru the wind. Actually I slept thru the shit lol.
good sh*t.
Liva and Sandman been ill with the lyrics from the jump, if you’re not feeling them you ain’t listening right! This mixtape is super-ill!!! The freestyles are better than most niggaz written material!!! If I had to choose my favourite volume I would have to say volume 2; just because Clinton Sparks was cutting up the records real nice.
“The freestyles are better than most niggaz written material!!!”
as if those “freestyles” isn’t written… smh
nah it’s a good tape though. But those aren’t freestyles dunny.
Most “Freestyles” are written verses made for mixtapes, radio appearences, etc. Nowadays, aside from the rare battle rapper (ie. Jin, Iron Soloman etc.) nobody’s spittin real off the top freestyles.
^ and haven’t been for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time either
Liva & Sandman can spit, no question, but they’re just not marketable enough by themselves. plus, after 3 mixtapes I can’t really detect enough “swagger” from either of them to make them standout from a growing field of mixtape rappers. They’re both lyrical on a level apart from most MC’s (Ab-Liva was spitting like that before The Clipse got nice. Exclusive Audio Footage got shelved for a reason lol) but in today’s market, personality seems to go a long way (ie. Soulja Boy, Shawty Lo, Uncle Murda, etc.)
Vol. 2 is still My fave, though this one is growing on Me. IMO, Vol. 3 has some of the best beat selections of the series.
I’ve been peeping this site out for a couple months now and I’m officially sprung. I not only love the editorials and interviews, but the links in the comment section are always on point, too.
I’m def feeling the Re-Up tape, but I feel like it’s the other way around. I know the Clipse are the main draw right now, but those Philly boys are monsters with the lyrics. Especially Sandman. Dude is almost a part of the beat with his flow and delivery. I think they’ve only gotten better w/ each mixtape, and now they’re outshining Malice (or Terrar if you were up on early Neptunes) and Pusha T. Just my .02 y’all.
ONE
@ One Eye, Amp & Grandmaster: How can you tell? Maybe you guys know something I don’t, do tell!
I was being sarcastic.
Tru – Welcome to the fray.
Thank you Gotty.
Btw, has anyone else noticed that the og version of vol. 3 has 18 tracks on it, while the new one w/ Drama has 20? I haven’t peeped the Drama version yet.
Things we love about TSS:
47. How they ignore politics as if it’s just another bad T.V show.
Track 15 has some dudes called CUB (The Come Up Boys) freestyling over a familiar beat. I can’t think of the name of the original artist or song. Track 20 is the song Drama had as a bonus track on his Gangsta Grilz album.
Hadn’t thought about a Benzi version…hope it happens.
Is it it me or does this cover look…well..like they got it for cheap?
its just you ^
Sandman & Liva always been ill.
Fuck all that! What’s Jim Jones wearing on the cover of his new mixtape? Over there looking like Lawrence of Arabia……in Harlem! LOL
SANDMAN IS THE DOPEST IN THE RE-UP GANG!!! PUSHA IS BITING HIS STLYE!! AS A GROUP THEY DOPE BUT SAND IS THE GLUE HOLDING THE MUSIC TOGETHER!! YEAHHHHHHHHHH CANNONNNNNNNSS.
