Yesterday, the lineup for the seventh annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival was announced. One of the highlights is the ever increasing appearance of even more “urban” acts again this year.
“…The bill is a veritable who’s who of indie, hip-hop and, well, jam, a list of more than 80 acts that includes Kanye West, Death Cab for Cutie, M.I.A., Bonnaroo mainstays My Morning Jacket, the Raconteurs, Rilo Kiley, Sigur Rós and Lupe Fiasco.”
Lupe, Kanye, Talib & M.I.A. are all huge draws. Throw in Jack Johnson & Sharon Jones to satisfy my inner hipster.
And even though it’s an hour away, I still probably won’t go.

where is this mud this coming from? i heard the real problem was DUST last year. plus someone from my home and state and your neighbor to the north, KY, died last year. death is bad. my main reasons for not going to bonnaroo:
1: too fuckin hot, no shade
2. dirty stinkin hippies and not showering for 3-4 days.

Anyway, this is not the initial concept of the video but since no one would allow us to shoot a hip hop video in their $5-$9 million loft in Manhattan, the powers that be settled on a club, Club Rebel in Manhattan.

The dust last year was out of control. I lost at least a year off my life. Normally its muddy though cause it rains…whole time and the week before it didnt and was 98 each day. Leaving the night concerts it was like Night of the Living Dead out there.

Bonaroo’s the ind of thing hiphop sould do/shoulda done… All those bands come through—day time shows/festival type vibe and they don’t care about anybody who don’t care about them.

You couldn’t pay 50 dope, diverse hiphop acts and crews to hang out for 4 days in some rural area and just play and do their thing. Everybody’s be whining about the soundboard, the weather, the crowd not knowing their words, the label rippin’ em off, “hatin’ iggas”… they’d be doing everything but rockin’ a crowd.
ye’ migh embarrassed by how hard these white boy acts go live tho. i hate that jamband jack johnson surfer type stuff… but they’ll play a 2 hour set without stoppin… they’ll play till somebody passes out.

Kayne?! Wow, what happened to bonnaroo? I stopped going after the first 4, they took it a different direction. It seems every year they have less and less bands I would be interested in.
But if you like the line up, can deal with mud and heat, leave the illegal stuff at home, and go. I had a great time.
