“F.ashionable A.rtistic T.rendsetters…” - Pacific Division
AUDIO By TSSCrew on February 20, 2008 at 9:08 pmWords By Jason Hortillas
Recently we gave a heads up on Pacific Division who have already built quite a buzz from the Left Coast. The trio comprised of B-Young, Like & Mibbs combines Native Tounge influence with LA swagger, while not falling under the dreaded regional stamp. Already getting co-signs from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Pharrell & Questlove, see for yourself if you agree:
Ironically Pac Div’s “Women Problems” invokes the infamous quote by LA brethren Rodney King of “Can’t we all just get along?”, but in this case with the opposite sex. I get flashbacks of grade school when I hear lines by Like kicking, “Morgan, well she let me play Oregon Trail but her breath had a foreign smell.” That’s probably from too many ice cream sandwiches and Fun Dip.
“F.A.T. Boys 08″ is an ode to the so fresh so clean mantra, with the acronym describing the crew as “Fashionable Artistic Trendsetters.” With the already flooded street wear scene, the name brand dropping is in full effect as Buffy of the original Fat Boys is heard on the sampled beatbox. R.I.P. Buffy hope you got them same ice cream sandwiches wherever you are.
For those new to the Pac Div boys, check out Sealed for Freshness. The mixtape dubbed as a blendtape, mixes two to three instrumentals, per track so you don’t have to get bored like the hordes of tapes you hear over and over on the same ass beats.

These dudes got me runnin outta hard drive
First
^you know?
sheeitt…I’mma hafta go cop an external when I get my profit sharing check from Warren Buffett this Friday…I’m tired of having to delete files (even though they get replicated in my iTunes)
I’m having trouble deciding who’s better: Young Dro or Lil Wayne.
They both have absurdly retarded-ass lyrics…niggas is comedy, yo…
I had this tape for a while. They hosted it on their myspace. That dude Likewise be killin’ shit
sooo..I broke down and decided that Young Dro “I Am Legend” was worth making some room on my hard drive…
…can anyone here vouch for the Big Kuntry or B.G. mixtapes that dropped at the same time?
@ Misfit: Dro over Weezy anyday; Weezy is fucking over-rated in my book! The DJ Drama & BG is pretty fucking ill, never been a Big Kuntry fan but I’ll get it just to see if homie got some heat.
p.s.
For you cats running out of hard-drive space I think it’s time to forget about gigabyte drives and consider terabyte drives, trust me you can’t fill those ma’fuckas that quick!!! (hmmm…with all the shit that drops on TSS maybe you can!!! LOL!!!)
Dro.
Dro is that dude. He’s limited in ways…but fuck that. dude goes hard.
Kuntry…I swear, i kept listening & kept listening…and started liking. Hooked. I haven’t even made it to the new tape yet, but i’m expecting some bangers.
Him & Dro face the same thing - they both just need to grow wings & fly. that one producer to push them over. That lil bit of growth to show they deserve to be @ the top.
Will Kuntry make it there? Realistically, no. But he can have that loyal fanbase (like BG).
Can Dro? Yep.
I’m glad my music snobbery took a backseat to diversity and gave Dro a chance…this some dope shit.
oh…for all the DC/MD/VA cats…Pete Rock is spinnin at some hole-in-the-wall club around 14th & U tomorrow night…I MIGHT hit thatup and the Erykah Badu listening party in the same “uhrea” too…
speaking of which…anybody got that “New AmErykah”? need that….
I promise I’mma come out the pocket for an actual CD or 2 next Tuesday since I’mma have a little extra bread to break off this Friday (thanks to Tony Nicely and that motherfucking Gecko)
^ Co-sign… Dro.
All I know - Go back & get Day One with Drama.
& don’t sleep on the Pac Div dudes.
@ Misfit and everyone else around the way…
Pete Rock @ Cue Bar
1115 U Street NW in Washington, DC
http://davidgaines.com/wordpress/162/pete-rock-rocking-at-cue-bar-this-thursday
I’m celebrating 27 years with the crew from college… We will be stopping by to see Pete at some point during the night. Fo’ Sho’.
@ Gotty - u right man…Day One was that shit…i heard Dro for the first time on the Gangsta Grillz ATL edition…Rubberband Banks, boiyoiyoiyoing…that shit was crazy
sheeit, I’m sorta mad that cats like Dro gotta bubble on the under while these other dudes be hoggin and shit.
Grand Hustle gotta get behind their stars that AIN’T behind bars…no dis to Clifford…what’s up with T.I. and his case these days anyways?
oh shit…Dro name-dropped Ric Flair…lol that’s what’s up…haha
@ Douglas Howser
“Fo’ Sho’” - 40 Year Old Virgin…lol
^ LOL … one of my co-workers is from Richmond… that had to be where I picked that shit up from.
LMAO @ Misfit
a-yo..
for a minute…
does anyone have the time nowadays to listen to the shit they download more than once?
it’s like I download the shit, listen, move on to something else…it takes discipline to stick to just a handful of albums to keep in rotation…part of the problem is TSS…LOL
and I ain’t got time to listen to a whole album in the whip when the job is only 15 min. away…
this ain’t like back in the days when there were like maybe 10 tapes that came out in a year’s time and you had all the time in the world to listen to that shit on your walkman with auto-reverse
*sighs*
i miss them days…I ain’t got time to be memorizin’ all of Crooked I’s and Young Dro’s lyrics…fuck…too much dope shit be droppin’ for me to focus on just a few albums
@ Misfit
I felt like that a while ago…so I just slowed down. I think it was around the end of last year. Only listened to one-two albums during the week, and a few loose tracks. Felt like I wasn’t absorbing anything from it, and that’s key for me. I just let the compressed albums stack up until I had REALLY listened to the others.
^word. I’ll see if I can do that.
@ Misfit & The Kid: Fuck, TSS could do a post about that shit!!! LOL!!! Between what I download and what I buy I barely even make it through 70% of it, fuck I still have shit from 2007 and earlier I ain’t bumped yet! Fuck it though, I feel that it doesn’t matter when you bump the shit as long as you hear it and absorb it. Mixtapes I think you should bump on the road and albums at the crib, I try kill about 3 mixtapes a day while commuting to work and an album per day. Man it was so easy back in the days to just listen, now with the internet before you even get to track 3 of whatever you’re listening to 10 mixtapes and 5 albums get leaked!!!!!!!

^see what I mean.
haha
I can’t wait for that DJ Quik/Kurupt collab.
I been tryin to get a lot more selective about what i dl…mixtapes i try to just download, burn and erase…no room on the harddrive for mixtapes unless they’re straight classics lol…but with albums it get a lot harder…i try to get em out to my car as often as possible but they still stack up…plus i feel like i’m missin out on some new, hot, right now typa shit…damn, man…tss and the internet in general *smh
^^^ just in case anybody was wonderin…the artist on that Back to the Future mixtape is named Nova…don’t know a lot about him but it’s his mixtape
Personally, I’m backlogged pause. But I generally try to make it thru everything eventually. I listen to a gang of shit in the car, almost everything really, b/c i do a lot of driving on a daily. weekends get a lot listening time as well. etc. I do a lot of Loosies listening as well.
The key is, I trust the ears & keyboards of most of these dudes we got on board. If they go all in about something, I bump it up a notch. Artists I know I love, they go into the rotation on top too.
It’s a balancing act but I’d rather have something to look fwd to listening to than nothing @ all.
I got onto Blu late. I ain’t mad. I can name a good 20-50 albums & artists that would fall in that same boat.
and I’m glad b/c it means the music is still out there and it’s already sorted for me to listen to.
Now, pardon me while i add a few more to my ipod from my “Unfiled Rars” folder lol.
cosign everything you guys have been saying. Except for the Dro > Wayne shit. I just got Drought 3 Chopped & Screwed… and I’m convinced more than ever that he’s on some other shit. C3 will be hot.
But yeah, my external is running out of room quick. That’s a good problem to have, though, so thanks TSS.
Where is Badu?? It comes out Tuesday, right?

Most of the music out there is mediocre…I throw it on the wall and see what sticks. GOOD SHIT stands out! If TSS is talking bout it and I’m thinkin it’s suspect, I will usually break down and give it a listen (e.g. MM3). But the best feelin is to find that jewel out there, somthin that everybody slept on and then put your people on it. That’s why we do it.
hey i accidently downloaded a mixtape or something with “dr. claw” on it, like a producer or something.
it was off smokingsection.net from a couple days ago. can anyone help me identify it?
for all my heads who appreciate my mixtapes, here’s another one for your collection. i would give y’all a tracklisting but i want y’all to actually LISTEN so i can catch u off guard like “DAYUMMMM!!!”. those who have been rockin’ with me for a while should already know to trust me when i do my thing in the name of hip-hop and those new to the party should know that i respect my craft too much to release some bullshit. with that being said, 40 tracks at a total time of 72:08 so enjoy…
here’s where u go to grab it…
rapidshare.com/files/93617668/Eargasms.mp3
and yes you’re welcome…
Not sure if this has already been posted or not, but hommie amp live from the O put out a real nicely produced radiohead remix album that deserves a listen
http://www.onesevensevensix.com/download/AmpLive_Rainydayz_album.zip
Definitely some interesting concepts…
Jaycee - Good looks.
no prob, if y’all have any problem downloading that then add .html after the mp3, somehow that got lost while i was copying and pasting…
i’ll have the cover to go with it shortly, so once again enjoy….
rapidshare.com/files/93617668/eargasms/mp3.html
no prob…
That album cover was going to be my next question. Gonna give this one a listen later today on my drive.
That’s that dude right there… Jaycee
Hey, anybody have all of the Pac Div tracks so far? I checked out their myspace, and stuff is dope.
Hey, anybody listen to the Kidz In The Hall LP yet? That set me back like 3 days lol
I have been having the same problem with too much music on my hard drive; recently I had to get an external hd. Like everyone else has been saying, I now only keep music that I would want to re-listen to. That goes for mixtapes, albums, and podcasts.
On a side note does anyone have that Amanda Diva Ep Life Experiences? I would buy off Itunes; but they sell it to you as a MP4 and you can only upload the music to an Ipod. The caught my ass when I brought the Kidz in the Hall/Mick Boogie Dentention Mixtape.
What’s everyone running for storage?
2 500’s. 1 320. 1 120 (i think) and an 80.
I got a 750 GB
http://lessondaryradio.mypodcast.com/
This is a podcast from the brothers of Tanya Morgan, when I am at work it makes the day go by faster.
Tiffany Dunks!
I got a 320 & will have a terrabyte by the end of the year (I know the price will drop as I by one, so I’m trying to hold out)
@ Oniled - that cd u got with dr. claw on it is by DubCRowdy…a little group outta PA consisting of ddmack and kripp diddley…shit’s dope right?
1TB, 2 400GB, 1 180GB

Whatever those links are, both of them are dead.
@ the KID….
again what did u expect….
the beats are on the new mixtape are kind of underwhelming and its hard to listen to dro on shitty beats.
that being said…
dude has the most creative flow in the game.
sounds like he’s hopscotching over the beat
thanks jaycee, amazing.
cosign Nonchalant and everyone above about the time to listen and juggling space is always an issue. I’m currently running a 200 internal, 500 wd ext and got a 750 wd ext in the box. Getting to where I don’t trust the externals anymore; had two die this yr. Trying to be more on archiving to data dvd’s and cataloging for quick access. I miss quite a bit cuz I’ll just go on tangents and listen to curtis mayfield (recent example) for a week or two or some reggae or dub and not really ck out new stuff. Often I rely on the opinions of others on TSS and elsewhere and then just pull it up. Usually, its just NPR on in car.
Same problem everywhere and it seems everyone is running out of space. I just delete some crap they call hiphop music from my ext. hard disk for these guyz mixtape. I am still playing “Brand New”…”Oh I think think they like me well not exactly” that got me laughing. Props to Pac Div
I do not believe this
