first (again)…lol
Jay Elect has enough tracks out there to fill up a CD, which I did.
& it’s reeeaalllllyy dope.
dude’s got range…i put some of his more “accessible” towards the beginning, such as his song with Lil Flip & the one with the (fake?) DJ Clue shouting “Exclusive”…
There’s enough stuff of his out there that people should be talking about while we wait for Act II.
*edit*
I meant to write “songs” after “accessible”
his delivery is IL…his demeanor/presence on the mic reminds me of Rakim or Nas…
OH! he’s got this one song where he’s biggin’ up the South and dismissing all the naysayers who hated…sure shut me up! lol
After listening to y’all praising this guy I checked out his music and I must say I’m a believer now. I’m definitely hyped about his album coming out. I read a few posts back that he’s signed to Erykah Badus’ new label, is that true?
^ Yep.
Go back & listen to the intro track from Act I. Badu’s talking on the intro track.
Good interview here…

I dunno what his contractual situation is. I have to wonder if Badu put that voodoo pussy on him though.
“I Feel Good” by Jay Elect:
“…They said Down South was wack when it came to rap, that our thoughts was too slow and we couldn’t adapt…
When in fact, we taught y’all how to build a label from scratch
while you was whinin’ ’bout the points in your contract, black…
yup, we slick when we talk and we dip when we walk
when we came to the game, niggas stole our slang
uh-huh, we hit the game with a brand new funk
and plus we taught y’all how to slang a record outta your trunk…”
That podcast was ill. 1st time You get to hear His story directly from the horse’s mouth. You’ve gotta think His nomadic life is the reason His style is the way it is & why most Cats can’t tell He’s from New Orleans. Dude is one of the illest MC’s I’ve ever heard, real talk. I don’t know if Erykah’s vanity label is a place for an artist this talented, but an indie is probably the only way We’ll get to hear the music as Jay intended. Still no date on Act II though, which sux. Guess I’ll be banging the “Style Wars EP” & Act I till then.
Off topic, but anybody got Sporty Thieves “Cheapskate RMX”? Been looking for that joint for a while.
@ AmpGeez: Can you link that “Act I” from Jay? Never heard it.
@ Flea
There’s a whole Electronica thread on AllHipHop. Not sure if all the links are active, but it’s worth a shot…

Call me behind but i need some Jay E links… i slept on him like all 16 bird games this year…
LOL @ Ampgeez posting a Hammer album in that Vandalyzm post
Searl – Peep the “Similar Posts.” May be some working links in those.
@ Nonchalant
LOL I just had to hear what the “Death Row” era Hammer sounded like. There was supposed to be some Pac collab’s on there. It’s already deleted from the hard drive. I remember wondering how much Suge hit Hammer off with to sign to The Row, cause everytime I saw a pic of Him, He was always wearing the same pinstriped suit lol.
Plus, the Pac joint was worth it. Big Daddy Kane (I guess from the failed Death Row East) is on the joint too. Don’t stunt, Y’all know y’all were doin the “Can’t Touch This” dance back in the day lol.
“Uh Oh, Uh Oh, Uh Oh, Uh Oh, Stop…Hammertime!”
@ Amp
I’m from The Bay, so you know I rode with Stanley Kirk Burrell…that is, until 3rd Bass came along & murked his ass! and when he started doing all them big budget videos and Addam’s Family bullshit…and he had that one dancer with the hair….lol
Nah, Hammer officially fell off when He dropped the MC & rocked the banana hammock in the “Pumps & A Bump” video lol. And that joint with Him & “Primetime” Deion Sanders was straight comedy!
So do I get any props for ripping them and upping them? haha
I don’t need know props, props to ss for getting them out there, the guy’s hype, kinda dissapointed he used a Donut though. (nice use of that dudley perkins Dear God beat for extra extra though)
Can’t wait to hear the whole thing sequanced up with film sound clips and all.
Props to Lupang! I needed some new Electronica in My life lol!
@ AmpGeez: Good looking out, but most of the links were D-E-A-D. It’s cool though, at least I got the “Style Wars” EP to hold it down. MC Hammer??? Hey I can’t front when I was a teenager I was doing that silly-ass dance too!!! HaHa!!
@ Flea
The Pledge, I just checked, it’s up & working…

@ Flea
That “silly-ass dance” you’re referring to is called “The Running Man”.
& no, it’s not silly. It’s one of the greatest dances EVAR.
I’ve been known to bust it out on unsuspecting observers to get the party started.
The Wop > The Cabbage Patch > The Running Man
Here’s a style wars one that works (swipe)

@ Amp: Thanks again my dude.
@ Nonchalant: Hey man, I wasn’t talking about the Running Man I was refering to that move where Hammer moves from side to side on his tip-toes, you know that move he did in the “U Can’t Touch This” video?
when i say hip
