I usually try to cover all the stuff we didn’t cover during the week in one post. Grab all the links other sites have sent, publish the most interesting ones, etc. Two in particular were better than any I’ve read in a long while.

…really, Wu-Tang started with tension. Some of the guys were not as close to each other as they have become. Ghostface and Raekwon are considered to be Batman and Robin, but they were enemies in the neighbourhood. Ghost was my man and Rae was my man. There’s another guy, Oli ‘Power’ Grant who runs Wu-Wear, him and Rae were partners, and Ghost was the enemy. I’m talking about mortal enemies. But they were always real tight with me.
It’s not that often that I read an interview and think that I walked away really having learned something about an artist or gained some new insight. But this RZA interview @ Fat Lace fits that description to a tee. RZA opens up and shares some insights on previous Clan infighting between U-God & Meth, Ghost & Rae (and Power), and responds to some of the recent comments by Rae.

This Bun B interview with Houston radio’s 97.9 was emotional to say the very least. Hearing Bun break down was hard but some of his sentiments covered more precisely what everyone else is trying to write about this week – the death of Pimp C & his impact on rap music. Listening to Bun laugh as he & the DJs share Pimp stories was encouraging as well.
“I said everything I needed to say to Pimp,” Bun B said. “I know the last time I saw him I hugged him and I told him I loved him, which was what I did every time I saw him, because you never know how things in life is gonna work out … We can argue, we can cuss, fuss and fight all day long, but we gon’ say I love you when it’s over. I may not like you when it’s over, but I love you, and you’re gonna know that.”
You can listen to the rest here. It’s almost an hour’s worth of audio, but I know if my ADD ass can sit & be entertained by it, most other UGK fans will as well.
I read a good interview with Bun on MTV.com and while I haven’t read this one yet, I’m expecting to find a good one from Matt & co. @ Houston So Real.
A long long time ago, I posted a quote from a Source interview with Bun where he described his relationship with Pimp. I searched for a good hour yesterday and couldn’t find it. The reason why I wanted is because it was from around the time that Pimp was locked up & Bun shared some of the words that Pimp imparted to him about keepin UGK going while he was away & it reminded me so much of what my brother says to me alot of times, about staying strong & keeping our dreams alive through my work, online & off.
Over twenty years of documented recording history together & many shared memories, I feel strong in saying that the relationship between Bun & Pimp was much bigger than hip-hop. Here’s to praying that Bun can help keep UGK’s collective dreams alive.

LOL one.eye.deer!
Snoop new song is the shiznit!!
Ya’ll have to admit that this year in retrospect was like 92,93,94 due to all the comebacks and underground gems.
Outkast, Lords of the Underground, Redman, Roc-A-Fella, Krs-One, Keith Murray Mr. West, Fiddy Saint (ha ha), Wu-Tang, Lupe Fiasco, UGK, L.O.X (at least a couple songs) West Coast resurgence of lyricism, Crooked I, Bishop Lamont, Brother Ali, MURs (ill punch out video)
Boot Camp Click, Pete Rock, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Scarface, Miami snuck in under everybody’s radar, Talib Kweli, Pharohe Monch, Little Brother, Sha Stimuli, Skyzoo, Obie, Aztek Escobar, Smitty, etc.etc.etc.
I FUCKING LOVED THIS YEAR, minus the death and tragedy of course.
and speaking of dope albums, please cop that ONE BE LO (ONE MAN ARMY)… HE’S ONE OF THE ILLEST IN THE GAME…
