Well let me be the “first” to say—-this shit is ass. U can marvel and “ooh” and “aahh” @ the punchlines all U want, but all they are is Lil’ Weezball’s clever way of masking the fact he’s incapable of creating anything with substantial subject matter. I mean anything goes on the mixtapes and “street albums” but when you step up to do an ALBUM, it’s time to leave the disposable arts alone. I can’t think of too many Wayne songs that show off his conceptual side. “I Miss My Dawgs” maybe…

Wayne is a solid artist I think. It’ll be interesting to see if someone who succeeds in mixtape success can get back to creating an actual album. I hope he can get over the hump cuz a lot of dope mixtape rappers struggle when it comes to putting together a real project. You know who they are
Weezey is alright, at least he has something a lot of these “mixtape rappers” don’t have: UNIQUENESS!!! I’ve listened to nearly a thousand tapes this year and most of these cats sound the fucking same, nothing sets them apart from the next man. I’m not the biggest Lil’ Wayne fan but he can be entertaining to listen to most of the time.
^ Agreed. I actually could listen & vibe a little w/the old Wayne. New & improved Wayne is good for casual listening. I think too many folks discredit him just to be doing so when you’ve got arguably everyone who’s word is worth some weight cosigning dude.
And one last thing, his output this year shit on over…fuck it, everybody.

My feelings on the guy are mixed, he brought some heat to the game, but I’m not as much of a fan of punchlines. I guess it’s just preference.

I’ve got mixed feelings about dude’s approach to the game as well… He’s the only guy that I know who releases 8 mixtapes at once… (yeah, I counted once).
He’s got flow, I just wish he would put everything into one fresh album instead of spreading himself too thin with the mixtape game.
Great mixtape emcee, but as far as full length LP’s… he’s just aiight to me. I know he can produce better.
man, i have had a blast listening to this over the last three days. i don’t ride or die for weezy, i am a fan, but it is entertaining in my book, and isn’t that what we all are looking for? his punchlines crack me up, he has a ways to go with his storytelling, but he is fun. i get tird of the ideal of “THE CLASSIC”, that shit is almost gone, ans usually a classic comes from some dude from leftfield, not from the person with the microscope on them. i don’t expect a classic from him, i expect a solid album, and he will do that.
it’s difficult to pass judgment on dude. yea he’s got some ‘classic’ mixtapes–and highly publicized–but he’s never recorded an actual worthwhile album. C1 and C2 are fine, and the latter shows promise even, but unless C3 is great people are going to stop waiting on him to produce. 50 has criticized Wayne for not being able to come up with a banging single, and there is some truth to this, nothing has really hit the radios hard from dude since “Fireman”, which I didn’t even like. But he’s still an interesting figure, C3 is highly anticipated and will probably even sell. Time will tell how good Weezy really is.

lil wayne has everything that most rappers dont have. he has talent for sure, but he also has the swagger that most artists dont have. his next album is probably the most important album of his career, cant wait.

Lil wayne is not the next 2pac but is going the same route that he did pac put some much time in the studios he has 20 cds prolly still out there weezy does the same thing the only difference is this day and age all someone has to do is be around him in the process “borrow” someof his tracks and sell it to the highest bidder then everything thing is on the internet. The whole mixtape game Lil Wayne puts out is to show that no matter what beat he’s presented with and no matter what subject matter ran with that beat before he can still murder it and I respect that. I mean ever since Vibe called him the best rapper alive he’s done nothing but basically slap other artists and “rappers” in the face by saying “hey this is your beat and your song and here’s my version” which millions of people think is better or just as good. He always produced solid albums and I enjoy the Leak immensely. I enjoy how he did some of the vocal synthisizing like T-Pain does. I think it sounds great. Stop hatin. Peace
what up, before i say anything i’ll give you some background. i also am a dj and rapper on some albums ive produced, i was born and raised in new orleans and have been in the music industry a long time and i am a weezy fan also so dont let what im about to say offend you. okay yes i must say wayne is the “best rapper alive”. he’s got some of the sickest lyrics and all the features he will ever need. but that is because no one is pushing for that position, no competition right now. one rapper really high in my books is eminem, and right now he’s working on an album that could possibly beat carter 3. wayne was interviewed and was asked, “who would you like to work with in the future?” and he said “eminem please work with me PLEASE”….the reason people “hate” on lil wayne is because if your from new orleans, you know that (not all of his songs, but some) wayne is fake SOMETIMES NOT ALL THE TIME… the carter 3 actually made my respect for wayne go up, from listening what he had to say on the song “Dont Get It”, that was wayne being real, and you dont see that a lot in wayne, n that is why eminem wont work with him. But once again im not hatin on wayne, just giving you the facts. Wayne gives people what they want to hear, and that is what makes him Weezy F. Baby.
