Well, isn’t that ironic?
Toomp did a joint for Uncle Luke back in the day, the same Uncle Luke who dissed ‘Ye and called Mr. West a girl for pitching a hissy fit about his slight at the VMA’s.
The same Toomp who arguably laced ‘Ye with some of the best joints on Graduation.
karma’s a bitch.
Does anything good come out of Florida nowadays?
Yeah, Plies. Trick. Ross.

Portishead.. nice!!…
my JAP side piece at ‘Cuse put me on to that…
good ole’ college days!!
St.Raw’s (Straight Raw) been nice since before Team Arliss. Too bad He’s signed to D-Block. He’ll probably drop His album the same day J-Hood gets a deal with a major…Never! Wonder how much He had for pay for His D-Block dog tags.
Still gotta disagree on Plies. Dude is a disposable rapper. Look at his radio hits. Keep the same beats and T-Pain/Akon hooks. Put in any rapper. Them joint would still be hits. Its all in the formula.
Kinda sorta agree with Tres on the Plies dude. Even though I think He has potential as an artist, commercially, His hits are based off a formula that Akon/T-Pain have been milking for the past couple years.
I wouldn’t be too quick to throw Plies on that list. He’s got some ridin’ (good) joints but let’s see if he can stay the course through his career.

the portishead link is d.e.to the a.d.
@ Tres & Ampgeez (to a lesser extent) – all you’ve referenced there are his radio hits, which, you’re right, are pretty formulaic. But a rapper’s disposablility shouldn’t be based on those alone.
Think about it – there’s a real squeeze on record sales right now, so the companies that have the kind of money to get their artists on the radio are going to go with a real similar feeling to the stuff that’s selling (Akon & T-Pain have both gone plat recently, I’m pretty sure).
Plies is that dude because he’s got a weird tone to him. He puts a political spin on things, but from a real layman’s point of view, distilling stuff into smaller truths because he keeps his stuff so close to his surroundings. He’s not speaking from a real high vantage point on the map, just reporting from FL – ‘ghetto CNN’ type shit. Really specific, which makes him really believable, which makes him a force. Same thing with Rich Boy, in my opinion.
And he’s got a monster of a voice and delivery style, IMO.
portishead, fuck yeah, they’re coming out with a new album and played some new songs at atp over the weekend. new shit on my blog, http://criticalacclaim.wordpress.com/2007/12/10/portishead-debuts-new-songs-at-atp/
“And he’s got a monster of a voice and delivery style, IMO.”
are you serious this nigga raps like gomer pile…rick ross is garbage and plies is HOT garbage.
I like Dude, but can He make a commercially viable song without someone singing on the hook? Trick Daddy is similar in content/swag & He’s crossed over without totally “crossing over”. All I’m saying is I need to see more from Dude. The third single is another formulaic “my mothers a saint, I’m a thug” joint which has some heart, but again, it’s nothing original.
^^^ Have ya’ll heard the ALBUM?
After U sit down and give the album a thorough listen, all speculations of whether or not he’s good will cease. I guarantee it.
No Go…
(On the Mario)
FLORIDA HIPHOP IS FUCKING GARBAGE!!!

Also, if possible could somebody up Rich Boy’s album. I lost my copy and lets get this paper is serious.
See man… if they had One… just ONE joint like that Click Click beat on the album I’d be a lot more hype in going to buy the 8 Diagrams!!! Slowly but surely but damn…

Florida hiphop is Garbage!?! Maybe Cause there aint no hiphop in Florida just rappers…so FUCK HIPHOP!!!
hiphop is Lil Mama lip gloss, chicken noodle soup and Payola…so FUCK HIPHOP!!!
hiphop is Fight club/battle rappers more concerned with a punchline than saying something worthwhile, I feel, if you wanna tell a joke go on Def Comedy Jam bitches…Mannnn FUCK HIPHOP!!!
I am in NO WAY trying to say that Plies has lyrical talent but i would rather hear his music that at least has some emotional content than half of this “flowery” HIPHOP
STFU
