Killer Mike is a beast. Never reallly dug ‘Fest, comes off kinda corny to me. Killer Mike is able to straddle that line of being politically minded as well as street. He’s a little less vocal than David Banner, & doesn’t have any real machine behind Him, after falling out with Big Boi. The “Monster” joint was ok, but the Grind Time mixtape was a classic. I was really feelin the “Bad Day, Worse Day” remix w/Ice . And those Grind Time spots on SuperDeluxe.com are smart & hilarious.
Yo, if you like Mike, check for Fest. Not similar but they just are. I think a lot of people straight snoozed on him (including myself) b/c of the whole asooc w/Ronson & Kanye. He’s pretty articulate off the mic as well.

killer mike is nice, but i will stand by my original comment. unfortunately, rhymefest has three strikes against him thus far that has not allowed u all to see his “nice-ity”:
1. he has a wack stagename
2. he fucks with mark ronson. great dj..but not so smart label head
3. he hasn’t released a ton of material…but trust me his freestyles are the stuff of legend. please keep in mind that this is the same cat that defeated a hungry eminem a few times back in the day before he got on with aftermath…so the cat can rip a mike.

Man. I gotta side with Rhymefest just based on the strength of Blue Collar. I love the grind time mixtape as much as the next man, but Blue Collar STAYS in rotation. To each his own though.

Killer Mike > Rhymefest any day of the week.
Killer mike is an animal on the mic. Rhymefest definitely has the potential to release some great stuff as his punchlines and freestyles are on point. But most of his debut, and most of his singles, have just been watered down to the point of hip-pop saturation. Trying to hard to get over.
Killer Mike on the other hand released the highly underrated Monster, with hardly a pop trace in sight (even ADIDAS’s lyrics were more out of bounds than the commercial synth beat suggested).
Plus, that mixtape from last year was fire. Mike needs to drop some new shit.
^ That freestyle he did to “Cupid” on that Got Purp? mixtape a few years ago was vicious. I gotta find that CD. Thanks for making me get back with this post TSS.
