Like most heads out there, I’m in the middle of a Jigga Listening session today, so I don’t got the time to get deep on the latest. So, here’s a quick run-down of current news and some that we might’ve missed over the past week.
• American Gangster doesn’t even drop for a week, and Jay sold out all venues for the concurring tour in less than one minute. Hannah Montana better watch out, ‘cause Hova might be taking over her spot for hottest tickets on the black market.
• Staying in The Boroughs, Jimmy Jones will be releasing a free mixtape called, Harlem’s American Gangster, on November 6. With Dame Dash hosting it, and the not so subtle title, he’s obviously trying to steal some shine from the Diamond King. The real storyline, though, may be that it drops the day before Cam’ron’s much-anticipated return to the mixtape scene. I guess only time will tell if their purple blood is bad…
• Since The Louie Vuitton Don can never have enough buzz, Yeezy has decided to pen a book filled with personal philosophies he’s cultivated along his path to super-stardom. Thank You and You’re Welcome is due out sooner than later, and is expected to be full of teddy bears.
• Baby’s son is claiming that he’s got “a crazy track” for Slim Shady for his upcoming album The Carter III, which got pushed back to 1st quarter 2008. People are either going to absolutely love this, or tear it to pieces.
• Tupac, who was recently named the eighth top-grossing dead celebrity, will have his third Greatest Hits album drop on December 4. It will be two separate releases, Thug and Life, and each will feature one previously unreleased song.
• The self-proclaimed King of Jersey, Joe Budden, gave Allhiphop.com an in-depth preview of his highly anticipated mixtape, Mood Muzik 3. There’s still no release date, but you Budden fiends can pre-order it right here.
• With the fifth anniversary of Jam Master Jay’s death upon us, MTV is giving fans the opportunity to see the inside of his legendary studio via an online walk-though. Sad to think it’s been that long, but this exclusive is a nice reminder of the legacy he left behind.
• Apparently, the cover shot from J-Lo’s new album cost $60K. Considering it looks like the movie poster for a new Alien vs. Predator movie, I’m sure P could’ve done 10x better with a quarter of the cost.
• On the heels of the federal shutdown of Oink, movie/television host TV-Links.co.uk was closed permanently last week for pirating illegal content. It’s a shame, ‘cause I really wanted to watch Superbad again…
• Kelis’ milkshake has officially stopped bringing anyone to the yard over at Jive. After the dismal response from her last LP, Kelis Was Here, the label has dropped her like a hot brick.
• In an upcoming interview with HHNLive.com, Angie Stone speaks on her baby daddy D’Angelo, Clive Davis and her former label, J Records. Although she stays classy, she lets ‘em have it. On D’Angelo, “I’m really not feeling him right now and he really needs to get his shit together.”
• Lastly, since we’re so busy over here at TSS, we never got around mentioning the terrible news that Lyfe Jennings’ protégé Lala Brown was found dead last week. For reasons still unknown, Brown and her boyfriend were murdered in a Milwaukee studio. Our prayers go out to their families.

Beware is also holding it down @ Stray Shots From The Smoking Section, versin’ on Snoop’s new crooning phase with the track “Sexual Eruption.”
Guru Ft. Common – State of Clarity (Remix)
The Dream – I Love Your Girl
Joe Budden – Last Dayz Freestyle
Gym Class Heroes feat Guru – Chokehold (Remix)
Cassidy Ft. Kanye West Swizz Beatz and Ne-Yo – Drink N 2 Step (Remix)
Styles P, Uncle Murda, Freeway & Beanie Sigel – Green Lantern Freestyle
Mario – If
Jae Millz Ft. Remy Ma & Al Doe-Horror Movie
Jay-Z – Party Life
Jay-Z Ft.Beanie Sigel – Ignorant Shit
Run DMC – Jam Master Jay R.I.P.
AZ Ft. Jimi Kendrix – Life On The Line
Lil Flip & Lil Boosie – Shinin

I think the Cam/Jim beef was something petty, but when the media jumped on it, they ran with it. “Glitter” wasn’t the comeback that I expected for Killa, but I’ll reserve judgement untill Public Enemy No.1 drops.
Does ANYBODY have that new Project Pat? Had no idea dude was putting an album out today.
Def not the level of promotion you wanna see from your label.
Are you serious? Project Pat? Prehaps the most ig’nant rapper out. “Ghetty Green” had dope beats, but dude is trash.
“Don’t Call Me No Mo”=worst single of the year
I think you added an extra “r” when talking about Snoop’s new phase.
Any up-to-date news on when the Clipse plan on droppin that ” We Got It For Cheap Vol.3″?
The single sucks. True. But DO NOT sleep on Pat. I’ll put yall on to the whole discography (minus the new one) when I get off work. He’s a serious story teller.
Question:
At the risk of revealing my web-ignorance whats the difference between a grouprip and a webrip?
Let’s stop the bullshittin
Til we all without sin
let’s quittin the pulpitin
Damn HOV is killin it right now…
I’ll let someone who can explain it better get down about that webrip/grouprip thing.
Webrips are usually of lesser quality. Grouprips are just that – specific groups who rip @ a certain quality.
Layman’s explanation lol
Good look.
Success=Best Track on AG

I know that Marseille is not… AND Paris too !
Paris is better like NYC is comparaison, because
it’s the big town of rap in france, Marseille, is in the south, but not dirty for me ! lol !
Marseille its like a mafia town, “Bad Boy of Marseille” Damn !!! Classical :

AKH is one of the best , top five !!!
u have : akhenaton, oxmo, dany dan, kery james, booba

Paris have his own style !!!, look that … for example,
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=hF3IspeOM_E
it’s hiphop, but each town, each hood, are different !

Brand New “First” Dvd Live !!!
Jim Jones still going at Hov? Ha Ha!! I think Jimmy is going to take a loss with that, his new tape might be flames but by the sounds of American Gangster I don’t think he stands a chance. Cam needs to come back and put Jimmy in check, because regardless of what people say Cam can get busy on the mic when he wants to. But fuck this bullshit! New Clipse album March ’08! RE-UP GANG album for summer ’08! We Got It 4 Cheap in spring ’08! Get ya triple-beams out & get ya weight up! Ha Ha!!

Big Fonz,
Good look. unfortunately I made the mistake of purchasing that joint on the way home. You try to support the artists you enjoy but when they put out bullshit it makes it that much more difficult.
Please…Greums said “good night”. Don’t wake him up LOL
yo Gotty, or anyone who might have it… special request… there’s a Pete Rock/DJ Premier mix hosted by 9th Wonder floating around out there… if you have it, please post. my copy got Greumsed up in transit…
thnxnadv
Hahahaha!!!!! He said “Greumsed up”. That shit is hilarious.
“Greumsed up” is now TSS-speak for bugging out! lol
ok, on the video that shows the studio where
Jam Master Jay got killed :
first of all, homie is dead wrong on sumthin…he told the dude from MTV that 50 cent and Jayo felony recorded there, he went on to say that onyx even recorded there..well, if indeed he is a “Kweenz native” like he sez he is???
then he should know that JMJ had a previous recording studio that burned down across the street from Gertz Plaza Mall on ARCHER ave.
so when he moved in there, 50 was already gone.
now im not 100% sure but i think Jayo didn’t either.
and as for onyx, they had they own studio by the time JMJ moved to that spot.
check the history and u will see wut im talkin’bout..
now i know duke is tryna do his claim to fame thing…but at least do it wiythout makin false claimz famz….peace
anyone have S. CARTER THE REMIX?
Anybody wanna up some Ransom mixtapes for the kid? I need a late pass.
Aww man!!! “Greumsed up” lol.
I got several Rans joints. Dude has a gruff flow & laced w/metaphors…too bad he’ll likely go down in history as the dude sonned by Budden.
@ J-Lo’s CD cover. No joke I know 30 guys off the top of my head that could have thrown that together in 30 minutes on Adobe Photoshop. What a joke…
@greums post of I AM-Bad Boys de Marseille, LOLOL
Big Fonz – NO doubt i been checking all my usual spots but coming up blank, tired of listening to “this a promo copy” like 500 times and shit. I slept on Kenn Starr but he reminds of a AZ or something, killin it with the multi’s . PROPAZZZZZZZZZZZZZz
No doubt.

Hov needs to stop bullshittin and bring that American Gangster tour to Atlanta.
About “No Hook”.
Isn’t saying “I don’t need no hook for this shit” a couple times in breaks in the song a hook?
IMHO: AG the Movie >>> AG the Album
I agree with Ampgeez, Success is the best song on the album… I find a lot of the tracks empty and annoying. I haven’t skipped this many songs on a Jay-Z album since Vol. III. What a disappointment. Budden was right:
“Legacy is gettin ruined and you dont want that
so pretty much learn from him
dont come back”
I think Dr. Dre is definitely on a solid start to his third and final album era! His first track, called Kush, got Snoop & Akon featured on it, and it’s a hood banger! Detox has been the most anticipated album for ten years and I hope that it will exceed my expectations!
