“Way-way-way- The Wake-Up Show! TSS Crew’s John Public had the opportunity to chop it up with the legendary Sway of The World Famous Wake-Up Show (and MTV News) at Yung Berg’s “Sexy Lady” remix video shoot not too long ago. I’m always impressed with his poise when interviewing artists and his seemingly genuine interest in what they have to say (or perhaps that’s just a great poker face masking tiredness at the clichés his subjects drop in the name of science). Either way, he was cool enough to take a minute out between interviews of his own to enlighten us on his interview technique, the timeless underground vs. mainstream battle, and a subject I’d wanted to ask him about for awhile, the late Tupac Shakur. Shout out to Cali.

Note from Gottyâ„¢ – I’m cosigning this joint. Listened to it several times & Sway drops jewels.

So whats the deal gentleman?
Y’all erase my previous post like I can be silenced? I just want to read the interview, it thats a no go, really what am I gonna do? but let me know……………………..
lol, nah charles. i had to delete the post because we were having issues with embedding the audio. didn’t know how long it would take to fix so i deleted the entire post. that i know of, no text version is available.
sorry.

Didn’t mean to come off as accusatory, just trying to get to the bottom of this. I appreciate it, Now I have something else to look forward when I go home. It all works out in the end but I am amped for the session. Hey Gotti, here’s hoping you got one with Kardinal somewhere on your agenda.
Keep up the hustle, one
Hey P,
I’ve seen your picture and I would never suggest you were anything but a lady but John Public, isn’t your alias is it? or are you responsible for posting everything around here? Kool, anytime I address this board it’ll be gender neutral. AND thus peoples, what was a KRS quote?
I like the interview, Pretty good shit.
Keep it up.
Great interview. I already had respect for Sway, but the level is much higher now. BTW, can someone tell me what that third instrumental is?

You should transcribe this interview, the instro’s from behind detract from what he’s saying, no to mention they’re mixed shitty also.
Real Talk.

Thanks TSS, Keep grindin….
The music enhanced the listening experience for moi. I played the shit 4x in a row the other nite while working w/it.
When I go to play it, I only get about 2 minutes. What’s up with that?
Great interview.
Sway’s no dummy, I’d take those MTV checks too.
third instro is monch’s “desire” (by alchemist). they’re listed in the order they appear at the bottom of the intro…
good looks on the feedback. sway is a real cool, intelligent cat. someone i respect, def a privilege to talk to him. haha was the best part of that video shoot. peace.
damn does the interview sound WHITE LOL
did the guy even know who sway was before yall sent him on this assignment?
and yo p why dont you let me know where my comments keep going? why yall blocking me? in the words of premo “thats some faggot bitch shit”
its kinda hard to hear when the beats are as loud as the fuckin people talkin.
i cant listen anymore. all i can hear are beats and it sounds like two guys are talking somewhere in the background.
oh wait i heard the drop!!!!
what the fuck did yall get a drop for??? smokingsection radio?
can i have my own talk show?
Man I find it ironic that the first question dude asks is how Sway himself conducts a good interview and then goes on to conduct that interview.
The music definitely enhanced the listening experience. Sway is a smart cat. Good look on the Jake One beat, too…that’s my dude. Jake’s got heat rocks.
I’d never forget about you, P…I don’t think your earring or photography game would allow it.
soulz, I like how you talk big on the innerWebs, but if we were in prison, you’d probably be doing all of our laundry.
Aron, a lot of times journalists grant good interviews simply because they understand the game…especially when working with a youngster or a cat on the come up. It’s kind of a fraternity, so Sway knew the deal, and was a very gracious subject…once they got that Wake-Up Show/MTV distinction out of the way. lol
And cats should check for that Sway and Tech and DJ Revolution This or That LP with “The Anthem.” That’s some classic shit.
Much respect.
And the music alongside the interview should be done more frequently. Hope this is a reoccurring theme.
SOULZ – your comments have become a nuisance. we can appreciate opinions but most of the shit you post is just straight up ignorant and that is some “faggot bitch shit”. we’ve attempted to block you, but you’re back so obviously we’re not doing something right.
don’t trip tho, paulie fingers is on the muhfucken case.
RONNIE – awww ♥
ronnie again wtf are you talking about??? prison???
I dont know. i have been to jail. over a year. never did laundry. we had the bob barker suit. shoes. soap. shampoo. toothpaste. toothbrush. deodorant. I used to pop that little plastic ball out and bounce it around my cell. aaaah the glory days…
p…if i really wanted to I could block YOU from this site. so lets be friendly, ok?

The irony is that Sway told him how to do it then went and didn’t do it. That was horrible.
*dusts shoulders & walks away*
womp
I’m with the minority, dude first heard Sway from one of his compilation albums in 98? And most importantly first heard rap music through 2pacs all eyez on me?
Good/Bad interview – I’m biased, of course, so I won’t weigh in on that. But it was very very spur of the moment & it shows. But overall, I think some of the things Sway had to say were insightful (loved the whole “making it,” underground vs mainstream, & MTV comments).
yeah, i was in 8th grade when all eyez on me dropped. by all accounts i missed the golden era of hip hop, that early 90′s period.
as for the mtv/wake-up show distinction, you can’t tell by listening obviously, but Sway had a little smirk on his face thru that whole intro… it was more of me wanting him to introduce himself, follow? but i’d be interested to hear why some of you thought the interview was conducted poorly, rather than just ‘that was horrible.’ for future reference, of course.
Is it just me, or is there really not a link to this interview? Someone knock me upside the head and tell me I’m geekin.
John Public…Don’t let em get @ you about that Interview….that Thrift Shop Experience is constant rotation. I really dig the chorus.
BEWARE – link?
If the interview was out and out wack, I would say so, ’cause I’m a hater. It wasn’t.
And we can’t hold JP to these lofty interview standards just because he wasn’t rocking in the park with Bam and Kool Herc.
lol @ ’cause i’m a hater.
the Interview was fine to me.
Don’t understand what most of them are talking about.
Stops around the ‘Classic’ beat for me.. :/
Ultimately, you have to keep in mind that the invu was spur of the moment, unscripted and unplanned. So, it was a good one IMO but I easily biased.
