Trolling the innernuts looking for the usual mix of material to bring to you and stumbled across this joint. It’s not new & apparently been around (actually being made available by their fansite) but still worth pointing out to those who may not have seen it.
A Wu-Tang demo tape (circa ’92) prior to their signing to Loud Records. It’s definitely gritty as hell & the sound quality is fuzzy. But you can see hear the playful, raw energy as the crew bounces back and forth with their rhymes.
And there’s a Ghost free on here that makes it worth the 30mbs worth of hard drive space.

Question I was asking some folks at a party this passed weekend:
“If the Wu reunited and made another album, would it sell in today’s market?”
my boy replied:
“Does the RZA produce the whole album?”
I answered:
“Sure.”
His answer:
“I’d buy it!”
Raekwon tha king!

anyone got that new raekwon / icewater?
I doubt Wu would sell big numbers today, even w/RZA on production.
according to 50, none of them are better than cool james. what’s your story gotty? hit me on the email or something.
can someone post the changetolink from the usercash for me….my damn job blocks usercash!!!!

i suppose it’s good now!
but …
Biggie’s *official* demo was better. Eminem’s too. And if Ghostface can barely sell in today’s market, a Wu reunion (without the ODB) wouldn’t do any better.
is it just me or is the search bos on the right REALLY REALLY bad at finding what i want? i searched the hustle on video by keith murray and it didn’t show up…
or anything else for that matter (i searched for things i knew you posted)
please If u can put links to The Demo of Biggie! of Eminem ! and Eminem’s Infinite too (first album or demo?)
So Official demo and not official
thx (in advance) man
killarmy in the loosies. man, that’s a mighty slept on album, but not better than their debut “silent weapons…”. damn that was a good ass album.
Nelson – It’s tricky to say the least. I have more luck straight up using Google even though that search engine is powered by Google. Go figure.
Rich – True indeed.
On a sidenote, I remember comin in from classes one day in college, and all them dudes were burnin an L w/my roomate. Funtimes.
Co-sign DS’s statements.
Commercially, they’re just not relevant anymore so no one’s going to invest too much on them.
See – Meth @ Def Jam, Ghost strugglin to push Fish & More Fish to stay current & appease fans (fans really made More Fish possible), Rae being shelved for…ever.
If you can’t win w/those 3, who’s to say the Clan can win minus ODB as another personality that would be added to the mix?
Just my thoughts.
Teaching 6th grade, not one student knows about the Wu.
Knowing that the Wu wouldn’t sell in today’s market makes me feel old as fuck.
I remember watching hours of rap city hoping joe cleezy would put on “ice cream” “tragedy” “cold world” “daytona 500″ etc just so I could tape on VHS.
@Big Fonz the pw for the GLC/A-Trak joint is ‘fett-x’
sorry I didn’t include that in the original post.
I don’t think they’d sell well either, but I do know that I’d buy it. Maybe its a respect thing though.
You remember when older folks used to talk about hip-hop like it was the worst thing that ever happened to music.
I’m wondering if when I talk to my students about music and make fun of “A Bay Bay” and “Laffy Taffy”, am I just like those old folks I used to disregard?
Somebody tell me when the hell 26 became “old”?!!!
@ Douglas
For me, 25 is about the age where I started to feel myself becoming a bit “out of touch.” I realize now that trends are selling music and influencing children’s lives. I always used to hear that when I was younger, but since I wasn’t easily influenced myself, I always dismissed it. It wasn’t a reality to me.
But it’s crazy to see kids reactions to the songs that you mentioned above. I mentioned this yesterday, but I get a lot of music long before the world does and my reaction to “Ay Bay Bay” upon first listen was not good. But it’s a hit. And not because of quality, but because it makes the kids feel good. And it took me a long time to come to that realization. It kills me of course. I mean I grew up on some legends. So to see such an influential presence directing the lives of our youth is a major concern.
I stay up on everything because I have to. But I now know that someday soon, I’ll be one of those people who use some slang around the kids that they laugh about. It’s inevitable.
But I look at it this way – what do kids really know? LOL. I mean, I respect our youth, they’re our future, but do I listen to them as far as it comes to what’s hot? Nah. We get older. It’s tough to accept, but at least we know the difference. Can you imagine when these kids become adults? Talking about 50 and Hurricane Chris and how, “Those were the days.” LOL! At least I know I was a part of some great musical (the Golden Age of Hip-Hop) and cultural (Hip-Hop itself) history.
I feel sorry for what these kids are handed today.
@ ANON,
just try and imagine how people from james brown/ rick james era felt when we took their classic beats and put our 80′s spin on it….
Wu I just never understood them. I’m not hating just never could put them on and vibe to it. Sounded like they recorded there albums in the shower.
