“…Fuck Rappers.”
Kanye West is the self described Louis Vuitton Don. He is also the Christian in Christian Dior. But undoubtedly, Kanye West is one of the most magnetic artists in hip hop. His creativity not only through pen and paper but also with record samples and mouse clicking sparked a different sound in hip hop. Who else remembers when he and Just Blaze had every rapper throwing a sped up soul sample on their record? Who remembers when bammas were at the mall rackin’ up on Polo Ralph Lauren a few years ago and wearing three damn hot ass Lacoste sweaters at one time?
And the scary thing is…
He’s getting better.
With the release of Graduation in the near future (reportedly August) and the recent mixtape dubbed after his leading single “Can’t Tell Me Nothin”, Kanye West has the street’s ear. It seems as if dude basically went into the lab instead of going into Barney’s co-op in these past two years since his last effort “Late Registration” dropped. He’s picked up the pace and has been going ape on every track he seems to be on. And something tells me that the”Can’t Tell Me Nothing” mixtape  won’t be losing it’s place on playlists any time soon.
Now here’s the part all of you so called tough guys may not understand.
Yeah, ok, so son is into clothes, and so what if you like or agree with Beanie Siegel on what he said about Pharrell and Ye’. Remember who provided Beans with one of his hardest joints to date? Without those beats provided to Jay back in 2001, we might have been pissed at Jiggaman for releasing two lackluster albums in a row. And why should you give a fuck if Kanye is rockin’ a silk V-Neck with his taco meat showin? He’s a grown ass man right? You’re a grown ass woman/man right? I thought so….Keep it movin’ (Yeah Yeah To The K.I.M.)
Now as the voice of The Smoking Section (podcast coming by next Monday btw), I am officially saying with Common and Kanye still rapping, I will not convert into listening to World Music and rocking Rhianna rekkids’. And sorry Lil’ Weezy fans, but with Wayne coming out with a new mixtape/album everytime a full moon drops, I prefer quality over quantity. And right now, Kanye West is producing and performing at an all time high. And he just hit his 30th birthday, so he better be retiring soon because being 42 and rapping is not a good look, but thats another piece all together.
And as promised a new “Lil’ Wayne-Free” Podcast will be out Monday, and until I start getting paid for this shit, I can do what I want.
As long as Gottyâ„¢ says its ok.
Stay Black,
The Black Hey Zeus!
P.S. New site almost up and running, word to Pauwee’s soft and lovely hands giving me codes.

Kanye West will shut-down 2007… based T.I. doesnt explode himself
Lil’ Wayne got next though
all three kanye joints are fuckin dope. they’re very dfifferent, each one of ‘em. the beats are …..ew.
A Wayne free podcast will be music to my ears. I was gonna give him a chance, but that song “did it,” is a waste.
And for all the extra-curricular sturr ‘Ye does, it’s amazing how he always improves lyrically.
the listening laink expired.
i fucking love that mixtape man. the young folks remix is nice too. he’s bringing a new dynamic to the game.
“did an interview with the rolling stone. read the interview, man the whole shit wrong.”
props on the podcast, I CAN’T WAIT.
KW is okay, but I can’t find myself giving his old albums another spin after a few months of play. Yet, I find myself not watching MTVake anymore.
The Little Brother link expired
That’s the stand out track on that album. Fuck it, the stand out verse.
Only Michael Richards, only much blacker/
so when he say “nigger”…I’mma say….
“is this the Ritz?” Carlton..
Still calls him a cracker, but disguises it so it’s not so offensive. If that’s not genius i dunno what is.
Kanye West is producing and performing at an all time high

yo anyone have a reup on that stack bundles(RIP)?
I’m definitely amped for that Graduation album.
good writing m. dot. kanye has always been a beast with his delivery regardless of how elementary you may have thought it was back in the day. as far as his lyrics, i expect nothing but the best from that cat. u know them chitown cats got that swag something serious. and yes, this would include present company.
gotty, good looking out on that fela in the loosies. more cats need to recognize dude’s genius-ness (i made the word up).
I’m sorry, this may be beating a dead horse, but I don’t get the Wayne hate. He’s dropping a ton of new shit, sure, but none of it is garbage – he’s already good as hell, and every tape he drops he gets better. I just don’t get the backlash.
And Kanye is the shit.
There’s a differece between dropping a ton of stuff and dropping everything you step in the booth and record.
To me Wayne is a decent rapper, just greatly overhyped. He’s been in the game for over ten years and should be adept at switching up his flow and making metaphors up. Outside of witty verses he has trouble making up songs and concepts.
that pic of tom cruise throwing up the roc is disturbing
Gotty, regarding World Music, a must read:
http://www.hatertuesday.com/2007/06/05/157/
Yo Gotty and Co:
Funny that you mention the Kanye/Weezy Quality/Quantity argument.
I just made the finest do-it-yourself mix cd, with a few Styles P cuts, A few Carter 3 mixtape Cuts, 1 Yessirs cut, and Can’t Tell Me Nothing.
The most powerful song that I keep coming back to: You Can’t tell me Nothing.
And when i burned the CD, I was way more hyped about hearing “feel like dying” and La la la in the car.
La la la has staying power (and my hat, it had the NO, that’s the Saints Nigguh!)
Feel like dying’s novelty wore off fast (as a former black tripper)
The ‘ye produced Weezy joint actually grew on me a lot. You can hear (or imagine) how Ye convinced weezy to stick to the “before” routine. It works well, but I can see it annoying anybody upon first listen (happened to me).
And Can’t tell me nothing just gets better and better like 2004 Merlot. Or better yet, some 1995 Dom P.
Another Gem: Deeper Than Most, by David Styles. From the Boyz in the hood intro, to this line:
“You always hear me speak on the Porsches, I guess it’s the horses (HP), or how it zig-zag on the courses”. Classic and poetic in the way it fits in with the beat.
Anybody have any info on tgheh producer? (Street Radio)? Has he/she done anything else?
Holla!
Smoke 1 in ya next session!
Big money makes the whores finer!
Last thing, looks like you took down the derriere (sp?) pic from a few posts ago. Not sure if it was on purpose, but as a corporate (read: at work) SS reader, I ‘sho ‘preciate it!
anyone read scratch? i’m curious why on the last page they give kanye credit for producing the track “cant tell me nothing”? i thought it was (and it sounds) like DJ Toomp..xxl takes over the mag and ruins it. wtf. its a producer mag how lazy can they be!?!
@M.Z.
the carter sessions is a mixtape!!! why take “did it before” so damn serious? its weezy having fun. it could have been half the length it is but it makes me smile. not something i’m gonna be listening to on the regular but its a drop on a mixtape..no more no less.
speaking of Styles P…
anyone remember that Ghost In The Shell tape with Big Mike? Yo, my favorite joint was “Vinny’s Theme”. has this hit as a retail song anywhere?
And ‘Ye really is killing it. He makes dope music and rarely disappoints with any of his “future” projects
Met Tracey Lee at a black law student convention in Denver during his second year at Southern.
Dude is real cool, mad humble.
I said it before, and I’ll say it again.
Graduation and Finding Forever are gettin copped automatically.
Great article. I feel the same way.
@ anonymous
I take it serious, because he took it serious enough to release it. You can’t vouch for it by saying he was just having fun. I just prefer the block is hot/500 degreez weezy.
Kanye is the bestttttttttttt
