Down For The Count…

Did Iron Mike spoil a generation of fight watchers sort’ve how the different phases of hip-hop have left cats bored and wanting more out of current music?
Don’t get me wrong; the fight was pretty good. I was glad to see Mayweather win & I knew Oscar wasn’t going down easy. Both of them showed why boxing is referred to as “the sweet science” as well a good deal of heart. And for comedic value, it gets no funnier than Mayweather Sr.’s hair.
But I think I’m spoiled because when I was old enough to watch and catch on to boxing, Mike was in his prime. On Sports Illustrated covers. Knockin knuckas out with mean hooks. The video game, too? Mike was like a Rott off it’s leash once the bell rung and even though we knew the fight was only going to last no more than three rounds…we were glued to the screen each and every time he fought.
I’ve seen some pretty good fights over the past few years. But for the most part, now it’s pageantry, psuedo animosity that pops up @ press conferences, media hype campaign…all for a pretty dull ass fight. All in all, it seems like the initial fight is just the setup for the rematch so these cats can promise us more of the same, meanwhile rakin in the dough.
Reminds me a few albums and mixtapes I’ve heard recently.
In other shit I saw on TV this weekend…
Anybody know the name of the song that played during the credits of The Sopranos?
Radio song that rocks and rules right now…
…strictly off that “if you ain’t got no money, take yo broke ass home!”
Boney from the block is back with Part 2 of “The Art Of Storytelling” Podcast. Be about that right now.

1 > 2 > 3
That is all.
and one got the Who the F*** is Joell Ortiz? tape floating around?
thanks
First of all I wanna say the Mike always been my dude and Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!! is THEE greatest video game of all time, bar none. Few years back, I was record digging at a flea market and I came across an NES for $20, and then spent another 20 for Punch Out. It still hurts me the way his life and carreer turned out, but I’mma always have love for Mike. He’s not a smart person, and I think mostly everybody in his life ‘cept for Cus D’mato took advantage of him.
gotty,
peep hbo always lists the music from each episode… the do for entourage (sorry i dont watch the sopranos)

word. they have up last week’s it looks like. hopefully they’ll come thru w/the one from this week shortly. Good looks.
Mike hurt a lot of pockets back in the day with those 2-3 rounds fights. The KO is the most exciting thing about boxing. Boxing is more than the KO. Some people think Floyd is boring, but he is a good boxer. Oscar was gased out in the end. They both need to retire.
Good to see Ras Kass back with a big producer. Hope he takes some time to craft a good album again.
why would floyd retire and he’s still pretty young (isn’t he @ 30 yrs old or younger?)
I don’t understand how Gwen Stefani released that Luxurious on her first CD at least two years ago and then Fergie comes and takes the beat as well as Luda’s verse and changes it to Glamorous. That shit is ridiculous in my book. That took some serious creativity on Fergie’s part.
Mayweather is either 30, or about to turn 30. He’s undefeated and young. Dude should keep at it.

Mefdoc - Ridicolous
My top anticipated track, for real.
It was a pretty good fight this weekend… I don’t think Floyd should retire either. He’s too damn quick to retire now! I think they’ll both come out of retirement for a rematch same time next year though. Mark my words! Floyd made $5 million, Oscar made $10 million… then $20 million off promoting the fight… after he gave tickets to Jordan, Mary J. Blige and her man, Michael J. Fox, JLo and her man (I’ll never recognize him by name), Diddy & Kim, even Floyd Mayweather Sr.!!!
BTW… did anyone understand a damn thing Roger Mayweather said in the corner during the fight? Dude sounds like Eddie Murphy when he did the James Brown skit on SNL! Jump back!… Wanna kiss myself!
Spider-Man 3 had more holes in the plot that no web could’ve filled up. And I can still beat Mike Tyson’s Punchout straight through with Mr. Sandman being my toughest challenge…
gotty, that was a good fight homie. if u watch boxing for knockouts, stick to ufc cause that’s where cats really go all out. however, if you’re into watching some strategy, tactics, and luck…then boxing is the sport for you. don’t get me wrong though…at points the fight was slightly boring only cause my man de la wasn’t using his right enough, but oh well.
guarantee that when bhop and winky wright fight that compared to mayweather vs. de la, you’ll think that this past fight was the shit. them too other defensive minded negroes are gonna lull everyone to sleep.
now, anyone wanna speak on that jermain taylor vs. cory spinks fight in a few weeks on hbo…for free? i’ll guarantee that all the hard hitting that you want to see gotty will be in this fight.
gotty,
here’s the track youre looking for…

that Common beat is nice, I like hearing Kanye again, I feel like he hasn’t really been performing to his potential lately.
also - that Bjork went down really early when it was posted last week, is there any chance of a re-up or is the label all over it?
thanks a lot, and keep it up TSS - checking this site is one of my favorite parts of the day.
Heard Floyd cheated. :-/
i felt de la hoya won indefinitely! but i dont know, seems like scott storch is trying to bounce back making all these tracks since hes dead with hits for 2007… timbo was right.. hes just a piano man..

ib2quik2c - APPRECIATED!
I was disappointed in the fight…shit was type weak. It was aight…If you spent $54 on it, sorry for you my dude. I was feelin the two undercards though, word up.
But onto the Mayweather/De La Hoya fight…DLH was obviously the aggressor throughout the entire fight, throwing over 100 more punches than Pretty Boy Floyd, but Mayweather happened to be more accurate in landing his punches and he ate up DLH’s punches pretty well. Shit didn’t phase him at all. It was pretty much quality over quantity that got Floyd the W. I would’ve liked if Floyd threw more punches to make the fight more energetic and entertaining…but it is what it is.
Overall, not Mayweather’s best performance. Didn’t show any type of physical dominance whatsoever.
ANYHOW, Floyd gotta stop duckin my nigga Sugar Shane, cause Shane is probably the one dude who could give Floyd a run for his money.
the way you see boxing these days, compared to boxing back in the day, is very similar to the way i see professional wrestling. random shit, i know. but seriously, way back when, it was enjoyable to watch, different story lines every week, more believable rivalries, etc. now it’s all so predictable and boring. but it doesnt matter much, because at the end of the day, they higher-ups know that they’re still rakin in the big bucks, regardless of how predictable the shows are getting.
Gotty you got to tell me were that track from Ras Kass is coming from? An album or mixtape? It’s hot as hell man
No idea my dude. My dude sent that in as a random track that he found.
