Taking the time to respond to every morsel of media that comes out daily is a task. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of us within the crew don’t sit @ the cpu all day, waiting for something to happen so we can make a new post. Too, rushing to comment on everything isn’t my personal steez so we rarely pursue all the gossip and innuendo that happens. I like to think a little, hear some opinions, watch things progress and then speak my thoughts.
So with that, I give you my round-up for this week based purely off my random assessments of these so-called newsworthy events. Feel free to comment, agree/disagree, etc etc et. al.
Tim Hardaway’s comments on gays…
Probably the biggest, most recent story circulating right now and causing debate is this one.
Personally, I don’t care. In America, we’ve become so overly PC that we have alot of people, especially those in entertainment or with some measure of fame, afraid to speak their minds because if it’s not the popular opinion. First Amendment right as far as I’m concerned; he used his. Athletes, as a group, have often been viewed as macho & extremely homophobic. So Timmy just exemplified something most already knew about athletes.
That said, Tim’s an ass for this one lol. Who the fuck is this dude’s publicist? Didn’t they teach him which questions to answer/not answer and how to temper his answers on some shit? Lord knows, we interview some of these rappers and, while not having recieved the best media coaching, these dudes know how to pussyfoot around touchy subjects. Surely, Hardaway knew how to handle the situation or at least pick his words better…

Only good thing about Tim’s comments are that they took some of the spotlight off this shit…
400 mil’s on the line and the whole fuss is how a numerous amount of dude’s claim to be that kid’s father. E!News every few hours. CNN nightly (Don’t they have a war or some polictical scandal that warrants more attention?).
I’m still waiting on one person to admit what we all realize by saying, “Damn, Anna was going!” No disrespect to the dead but to think that she screwed that many possible dudes around the same time frame like Samantha from Sex In The City…I’m half ass jealous because slimmy had money and loose morals, living the fast life. She lived hard & fast; let her rest easy…
Al Gore plans to pull together over 100 artists to perform on 7 continents in a 24 hour concert to bring attention to global-warming…
While I don’t understand the whole science behind global warming, I do know that it was close to 60 here on Tuesday and then a high of 30 here on Wednesday…So if Al can create the internet, maybe he has the keys to fixing the weather as well.
And, while I’m not sure if I can determine ulterior motives, I give respect because he’s using his clout to something that obviously effects everyone, and by using music, he’s attempting to involve the youth. Plus, he’s from Tennessee. *Golf clap*

Is anyone really paying attention to Foxy anymore? Is shorty a female version of DMX? A younger, hip-hop version of Naomi Campbell?
Corinne Bailey Rae will be John Legend’s opening act on a national tour…
Say word? Put me on the bandwagon for this joint. I’ve seen JLegend perform, the little man with his piano, way before he blew up and after as well. Son gives a good show. Adding CBRae to the mix will hopefully give her the shine she needs to really blow stateside to match the fame she’s achieved overseas and the critical acclaim.
No disrespect but I don’t think anyone is losing sleep over this one…

As stated, I’m not glued to my cpu all day (thank God for the Blackberry) so for what I miss or if I want to get the daily round-up on what’s going on with other sites, the news in general and things of that nature, this is a spot I’ve found myself checking.

alright, i’m going to be honest. i’m caught up, and have been caught up for some time now. there is something about that show that just sucks you in. plus, you have two very prominent and important characters who are a) black and b) from houston. gotta love that.
with that being said, people are saying that they cannot kill her because the show is named after her. if we want to get technical with the whole thing, her mother’s last name is grey and she’s still alive and kicking and in the hospital. and while we’re getting technical, meredith is dead right now. you have denny, yeah i know his name…as i stated, i’m caught up, and pink mist, who died in the season prior and who is also the coach from nbc’s friday night lights, telling her she is dead. so, shonda, the head writer, has already killed her off. that is not to say that she won’t, by some incredible tv miracle, come back to life in the following ep.
if your girl paid attention to the commercial though, voice over dude did say that there would be a “devastating ending” to the next ep, which would lead you to believe that chick is going to stay dead. prolly delegate her to voice over narration a la dead chick from desperate housewives.

I think that “devastating” ending is going to be the death of someone else who’s an important character…
My bets are as follows…
1. Chief – Because his character is already quitting, divorced, etc…
2. Callie (sp)or Meredith – Callie b/c she seems so unexpected & Mere, b/c it’s unexpected for them to kill off such a big character. Yes, she’s technincally dead right now but there’s a chance that she’ll stay dead just to throw people off..maybe a coma or some shit.
4. Izzy – Denny came back to get her lol.
5. “McDreamy” or whatever his real name is.

This is the first i’ve heard of Jurassic 5 breaking up… and I am extremely dissapointed. No doubt their latest release was lacking… say, a certain musical ‘oomph’, probably due to the fact that Cut wasn’t behind the whole process, but it was still a good album.
Either way, at least two of the J5 mc’s will be able to hold their own on solo projects (namely Tuna and Soup, and probably Akil as well). The bad thing is, the principle of Jurassic 5 is that they are a GROUP and they live to liven up the party. 6 guys are better at doing this than one.

As far as J5 the last track i liked by them was Thin Line. Much respect to them for their contributions to hip hop history but I wont miss them.
