If you’re looking for something musically to get you thru the work day, I’ve often referenced Last.FM but there’s always Pandora. Type in an artist’s name and they throw you artists that sound similar…and of course, Lupe, 50 Cent & Young Joc all sound the same accordingly, but still it’ll help to pass your day.

Last time I mentioned Joss Stone, we got varying feedback.
Well, we’ll see what happens here because we’ve got her new video with Ray Ray and the label wants honest feedback on it & the other track with Common.
“Tell Me ‘Bout It” Feat. Raphael Saadiq by Joss Stone – Audio and Video Streams
Audio Stream – “Tell Me What We Gonna Do” Feat. Common by Joss Stone
We voice our opinion all the time on tracks so here’s your chance to drop your .02.
Constructive honest feedback please. And since we’ve discovered that everyone is now a critc, I can’t wait to read the comments lol.
If this goes as planned, we can bring you many more things of this nature.

this post is totally fucked…can’t read anything. lol.
You cats are on a rampage today lol.
Minor coding mistake pimp. Should be squared away now.
that track with common is pretty nice. what do you guys think of common’s newer stuff? like it seems that he has lost something. His lyrics are still on point , delivery etc is all solid as it ever was yet the stuff he is doing now just doesnt have as much replay value for me somehow
It depends on which Com we’re talking about – Com, on his OWN album in his OWN zone…or Com, trying to sneak his way into the mainstream.
Ressurection Com > BE Com > most these dudes doing it either way.
Songs are alright. I think she sounds better on soulful-type tracks than on upbeat band-music stuff (like the song w/ the video).
Her look reminds me a little too much of Pink too…
Ressurection Com > BE Com > most these dudes doing it either way.

by the way, is there any way to trick rapidshare to make them think i have multiple ip’s? I hate this downloading-one-album-a-day stuff.
ms. stone seems to be going in a very different direction than what she has been. i know that she has, in the past, done a few uptempo tracks and i figured since she was working with ray that she would go in that direction. i like it. she’s coming into her own and growing as an artist. no one can deny that she has an excellent voice, but it seemed as though there was a little something missing on her earlier music, and that might be the fun factor. if you’re not having fun making your music it can seem rather pressed on wax (no pun intended).
the video is very expressive of this change. she’s showing a little flesh. she’s dying her hair. she’s got the dancing chicks and graffiti. although this may seem like she’s reaching a little bit too much into the “urban” pot, it fits well.
Go to Raphael Saadiq’s myspace page (myspace.com/raphaelsaadiq1) and listen to Joss’ “Big ‘Ol Game.’ He of course produced it. It’s one of the best songs i’ve heard in a while. It’s making me by her CD.
Since she dropp’d her 1st album she has dipp’d into the urban market. That is her lane regardless of her color. She steeped in SOUL..youngin’ can blow. I love how an artist isn’t allowed to grow into something bigger. When folks are out of touch they remain stagnant. Diggin’ ol’ Stone and Comm’s shit.
I feel you on the Com thing, Gotty. I live in Chicago…the cat that said “If poetry was pussy, I’d be sunshine, ’cause I deliver like the Sun-Times”? I miss that dude…the blown Common with the Heineken in the I Used to Love H.E.R. video. This current cat is just a shell. A richer, more famous shell, but still a shell. Ain’t mad, though. Birds gotta fly, fish gotta swim.
And Joss isn’t doing it for me. Personally, I think with as long as she’s been in the industry, if she were the legit prodigy everyone claimed, she would have made much more progress by now. Not to put her up against Amy Winehouse, but when Amy was Joss’ age, the dropped her debut, Frank. Is Joss capable of Frank at this point in her career? I don’t think so.
The “little white girl singing soul” thing was a bit gimmicky and just never caught on to her advantage. I’m not saying she doesn’t have a nice voice, because she does, but in that genre, among the Arethas and Betty Wrights, you have to be able to blow. Winehouse has that power, and to me, Joss does not. She has a decent voice, but if you really know original raw soul, it’s average at best.
While working with Raphael will help her to an extent, I think his production is going to overshadow her more than bring out her true talent. I don’t know if we’ll see Joss’ true talent for another few years yet. She has some growing to do. Hallelujah hollaback.
I think Raphael is good for her. He worked with Teedra Moses and made some good shit. D’Angelo (How Does It Feel, Lady) – His songs work well with R&B artists. Not as well as with rappers. He has that old school feel that should fit well with Joss’ voice.
I’ve heard about 6 songs from the album – and let me tell you so far they are tight as hell. Lauryn Hill wrote a song for her. This new material is fresh and very soulful. A breath of fresh air from the contrived/timberlake bullshit at the moment. I’ve never bought a Joss Stone album before, because it sounded like someone who didn’t know soul music was trying to produce for her. They were merely translating what they felt was a soul sound. A gimick. There is a distinct change in this new sound – i’m impressed.
she is too fake for me,the Saadiq production is only covering up very weak songs. She can sing, but her style is more ”oversinging” now,she is showboating.
The songs are weak!! production is more than the actual content
Not impressed, wont buy it,and i did buy her previous 2 albums
ave., I hear you, but Teedra can sing her ass off and D is often considered to be a genius. Joss isn’t on either of their levels, and she’s had people in her corner from day one and still hasn’t brought the ruckus.
I’d have to hear the album before I can really call it, though.
Yeah. Let’s listen to the whole album, and then discuss again.
Some generous and geniune feedback is what was asked for & has been recieved. Appreciate it a whole lot.
I would like to hear that song with Lauryn Hill.. Any chance for a stream?!
PS: No, Lauryn Hill DID NOT write the song for her as far as I know. She only got a rap spot on one of Joss’ new songs called “Music” – which originally was an interpretation of on of The Score songs.
All I can say is that for the moment the issshhh i’ve heard is good, considering it’s Joss..
Good resources here. Cheers. BTW would you please also visit my site? ebony hoes
