Seize The Day…
GENERAL By Gotty™ on February 24, 2007 at 8:20 amAs I set out to do this “weekly roundup” (using that loosely) I was almost overwhelmed with some of the material because it’s so real. No better way to go @ it but to dive right in so here we go…

Principal caught buying crack on his office?
When the fuck did Tyrone Biggums become a school administrator?
Speaking of crack, I found myself browsing the February issue of GQ and ran across an interview with George Clinton. Now I knew the brother was high and always on some other shit, but SON SMOKED CRACK IN FRONT OF THE REPORTER and said it was healthy.
SMH.

I couldn’t find the full article online but I swear I wish I could’ve because I was buggin. George, some shit you need to keep in-house & I believe that since crack smoking isn’t socially acceptable, you might want to keep that shit put away until company leaves.
Bill Cosby is @ it again, this time attacking the legacy of Tupac during a lecture.
- I’m cool with Bill using his fame to make a stand.
- I understand he misses Ennis and is turning some of that energy towards saving other youths.
- True enough, he has some validity in some of the statements he’s made in the past.
But, brother, chances of reaching the audience you’re aiming for would’ve been better if you’d spoke badly of Jesus H. Christ instead of Tupac Shakur. Instead, chances are you’re alienating them.
And to try to take Pac to task for selling drugs?
Pardon me if I’m wrong, but Pac’s music wasn’t heavily laced with references to drug-selling. Now, riding on enemies, M.O.B.’n, and violence? Yeah. But aren’t there plenty of other artists, who have just as big a sphere of influence, that could have been taken to task for this.
And to take aim @ the legacy of a dead brother who can’t defend himself?

Aiyo…Bill, you’ve done a fair share. Be cool for a minute. Relax your mind and groom your dog. Let the dust settle. Then, once you’re focused & have found a better way, then come back and address the people.
Earlier in the week, we touched on All-Star Game weekend in Las Vegas and the aftermath. Well, it’s not completely over.
I live in the city so this story about the Titans’ Adam “Pac-Man” Jones has gone from a blip on the news screen to full-blown, first ten minutes of every newscast.
Here’s a brief synopsis, allegedly…
Pac-Man & his weed carriers took $80K in cash in a private party @ a strip club, where Nelly & JD were also in attendance. Pac proceeds to make it rain…but gets mad when the strippers try to keep the dough, grabs one by the head…hell breaks loose…Pac and the carriers threaten the bouncers. One of the carriers makes good on his promise and shoots three.
Pac is in trouble…again. He’s been in trouble since before he was even drafted. And as his play has gotten better on the field over the past two years, his trouble off the field has grown, along with the number of news media watching.
When he was drafted, knowing his past, a reporter asked Pac which would he choose – an NFL contract or his friends.
Pac said he’d choose his friends, aka his weed carriers.
I’ve generally tried to defend Pac man thru all his brushes with the law but I’m finding it hard to @ this point.
To become a man, @ a certain point, you have to stop leaning on your friends to help define you and instead determine your own future. Every man, every individual has faced it @ some point and time in their lives and money will not prevent Pac-Man from having to make this choice as well.
Pac, I pray you get out of this one & I hope it’s a life lesson for you & the shorties watching…and take this message.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
1 Corinthians 13:11
Let the knuckleheads go.
I’m just as hood as if I never left behind some of my dudes in the hood…because the important things the hood taught me, I carried with me.

On a brighter note, we hear so much negativite publicity concerning brothers and rappers that when we get a chance to spotlight something good, we’re more than happy to do so.
Philly rapper Kamaflaj put out fire, saves neighbors’ lives.
Respect due.

One o’ your best posts in a minute. More like this please. But more should be said about the rapper superhero. I have a hard time visualizing some o’ these plat rappers pulling a splinter outta someone.
Most people start w/ alcohol or weed for their problems. Crack? Wow. Pray for that dude, b/c i can’t see his marital problems getting any better.
Word. I like to do them but I’m not always “fast” or witty enough to keep up w/breaking news. I like to process and take it all in first before commenting. Plus, half the shit the media, in all it’s forms including sites, gives precedence to isn’t even worthy of the space or keystrokes.
Superhero rappers? I agree that most probably wouldn’t do anything but there’s probably a larger percentage than what we realize b/c first & foremost, they’re humans. And in a perilous situation, I think we all act off instinct instead of ego.
i dont meant o fuck up the conversation in here but what does SMH mean
First you say: “chances of reaching the audience you’re aiming for would’ve been better if you’d spoke badly of Jesus H. Christ instead of Tupac Shakur.”
Then you say: “aren’t there plenty of other artists, who have just as big a sphere of influence, that could have been taken to task for this.”
So I guess a bunch of artists have just as big an influence as Jesus? Yeah. Right.
You do have a point about how Pac didnt emphasize drug-selling all that much at all, though. But I think Cosby knows what he’s doing by wheedling the point. Cosby doesn’t care about mentioning Young Jeezy, because he knows that people who like Young Jeezy are too stupid to listen to much rational debate anyway–plus Jeezy would just use that to being attention to himself. Cosby knows that Pac is an icon so it makes so much more sense for him to be attacked.
As much as I think Tupac and his legacy are vastly overstated Bill Cosby has lost his damn mind for some time now.
There is one thing to be critical of black people from an analytical perspective AKA a Michael Eric Dyson but Bill Cosby has been running around the past year doing nothing shittin’ poor black people.
His past altruism (even to my alma mater Morehouse) doesnt make him bulletproof. What he said in New Orleans amongst Katrina victims needed to have him hit in the mouth.
Pacman Jones is just a dumbass.
Tampa stays n the news 4 some ignant shit.
enjoyed last weeks wrap-up and i enjoyed this one even more with the real talk and serious thought… hope this becomes ritual
oh and for the dude who asked, smh = shakin my head (like when u shake ur head thinkin, ‘what a fuckin shame’), word to NT
peace

One, in the US, there’s this idea of religious freedom. The things you hold high might not apply to those of different spiritual and/or religious beliefs.
In any event, it was just a statement to show how far off Bill was for going @ Pac.
I’m well aware as to why he didn’t choose Jeezy, etc. But why not choose Jay for example, if you want to be real about it? Is because Jay could actually speak for himself & then turn the tables on Cosby?
what’s the deal with the Crack? I hope George dosen’t start beaming up on stage at his show in Seattle on Friday….although that would be a sight to see..Fucc the L’s pass the base pipe! SMH as well.
And who brings 80k to a strip club, then throws that shit in the air, and gets hostile when the ho’s try to get some…How you gonna expect a stripper to go against her work instinct to get money? especially when you throw that shit in the air….This dude jewish or what?
still SMH!!!
My homeboy was in a studio in Atlanta with George Clinton a few years ago. He told me George smoked crack in front of him, but damn, a reporter?
Robin Harris – Be Be’s Kids (audio) – one of the funniest standup routines of all time – Gotty – share this with the masses. http://www.sharebee.com/579ab89e

Oh yeah man I got that joint on my HD already. That shit, Martin’s You So Crazy and damn near any Richard Pryor joint…any of those audios and it’s square biz.
That george clinton article was hilarious. He was drawing with crayons while the reporter is interviewing him. He use to get naked and piss on the crowd, and the crowd would run when he got naked. This is a quality post. Bravo!
