5 new tracks from UGK’s upcoming double album, Return Of The Underground Kingz (Jive/Zomba), to stream. Some you may have heard, other maybe not. Either the way, the time apart doesn’t seem to have affected their chemistry together. The astounding thing is that this duo has been putting out successful music for well over a decade by sticking to the same script, a la Short Dog.

“Player’s Anthem” samples my favorite track Willie Hutch track from The Mack, but since Pat did it I really didn’t want to see anyone else from the 3-6 camp touchin it. Luckily Bun gets low on it. “Stop-N-Go” & “The Game…” sound like the complimentary trunk rattlers. The track with Willie D feels good because on one track you have three cats who laid the groundwork for making the South relevant. All worth a listen.
