Phonte and Zo decided to recreate Toto’s “Africa”. Zo’s on the beats and Tay’s on the vocals. And thus, I enjoyed.
But alas, it seems as if…aww fuck it. I ain’t even gonna mention it. You already know by now what the current status of Little Brother is.
“Feel like somebody died or shot your old Earth…”
Through it all, Phonte’s been pretty confident and consistent in saying he was going to let the music speak for Little Brother right now. So here’s one for you…
Little Brother – “Pressure” (produced by Khrysis)
Getback in ’07!

Gotty.
Change or die.
Thats what life is about.
I been waiting for you to speak on the Lbizzle jawn.
And honestly, as someone who is catching crazy hell at the begining of 07 I can only say that through change/crisis do we evolve.
Yezzir.
Enh…I wanted to say something but I figured “why bother?” lol. Nothing we as fans say will affect them getting back together.
Me? I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the music, b/c in the end, that’s what it’s all about. As long as good music is made, we’ll all be fine.
~nodding his head~
Both of these tracks are solid, so I have no worries…
The weird part to me is… well… you know how many genres seemingly have such complete albums but hip hop albums always have something that is missing to make a complete album?
Well, Little Brother was like a last man standing type of deal when it came to this. Many albums sound so mashed up now-a-days. They don’t have a real theme to it. They always try to say, “well, we need a club song, a deep and meaningful one, let’s throw in a love song…” Instead of letting the album flow from one song to another.
The Minstrel Show did that. Because one man.. was handling production. Much like a band from another genre. The band made the music and not the company or, in most cases, how much it cost to get some beats from someone.
Now if the music still sounds nice, I’m all for it. But it will, to me, always have the knock of not being a full album.
(it made sense in my head lol)
C – I hear you and I agree to an extent. I’m pretty sure that the new album will feature Khrysis, Illmind and a few others that could still be considered in-house producers. I can’t really say that I’ve been dissapointed in the new material I’ve heard by Tay & Pooh over other producers beats, but I can definitely agree that alot of what we hear today lacks that consistency of say The Main Ingredient, 36 Chambers, etc. where one cat was behind the boards.
Anyways…We’ve got some more coming up on the subject of LB & their upcoming mixtape with Mick Boogie. Stay tuned.
Until then…

little brother needs to fuck with some real producers. Phonte is a star, but them over Khrysis beats sounds just like 9th wonder, and both of those styles is a wrap. they needs to get up with Hi-tek, alchemist, nottz, etc… whenever LB is on other peoples tracks they sound WAYYYYYY better then they do on 9th’s beats…
